The symbiosis of different elements can result in structures governing existence. A parallel of the evolution from which was born the BB3, the apotheosis of sports for the Italian brand. No Bimota before it was more powerful, and from this machine came the passport for a comeback in Superbike. With a heart of BMW S 1000 RR, the dimension has taken a big boost for the small and luxurious firm of Rimini.
BB3 for 3rd association between Bimota and BMW. The first of the line, in 1995, is far from the considerations of today: the BB1 was motorized by the mono of the F 650 GS. Sporty and racy, it offered 48 horsepower to the user in a quality chassis. The BB2 will only be a parenthesis of history, because being only the prototype leading thereafter to this BB3.
And she wants this Italian. Bimota put aside its passion for Ducati twins in order to afford the services of an insane engine. Renowned for its power and its bestial side, the 4-cylinder here comes from the BMW hypersport. Taking advantage of the evolution of the latter, the mill takes a load of watts and now develops 200 horsepower at 13,000 revs. The maximum torque announces a more than respectable 11.4 mkg at 9750 rpm. The dashboard is also from the S 1000 RR.
The ardor is German, the identity is not. Although the design has become much quieter, far from the edge of a DB7 or a TESI 3D, a Bimota remains a machine apart. With in particular a part-cycle mixing luxury and technique. The famous mixed frame with machined aluminum plates and chrome-molybdenum tubular lattice has been adapted to the template of the Bavarian engine block. Suddenly, it will be necessary to forget the smoothness of the DB7, DB8 and DB11. We will console ourselves with many other things. Like the sublime aluminum swingarm cut in the mass, many carbon parts (fairing, mudguards, airbox cover, pinion cover, license plate holder) or high-end peripherals. Only beautiful people invited to the party: Ohlins for the suspensions, Brembo with its M50 calipers for the braking, OZ Racing for the forged aluminum rims. The BB3 is not left out on the electronics side. ABS and traction control are part of the package. The dry weight is stabilized at 179 kilos.
Initiator of a new breath at Bimota, the BB3 is endowed with a beautiful firepower and equipment as refined as the house tradition. It also allows the brand to reconnect with a former love for the Superbike. With the Alstare team, the beautiful and furious BB3 tries out the WSBK adventure, with good rankings in the Evo category. An adventure for the small manufacturer, always with passion and beauty, at the service of motorcyclist haute couture.
