Bimota 1100 DB6 DELIRIO 2010

How could we have chosen another name than “Delirio” for this surprising roadster? From the end of the lighthouse to the triangular exhausts, the shock is total. Hyper aggressive, muscular, sharp, the style of the DB6 Delirio is even more pronounced than that of the sporty DB5 from which it derives. But the latter seems almost nice next door.

The roadster is not Bimota’s specialty, however. The last production of this type to leave the Italian factory, the DB3 Mantra, dates from 1995. And like it, the DB6 borrows the large desmo air-cooled engine from Ducati. At the time, it was a 900; Evolution obliges, the DB6 borrowed from its exit the 1000 of the Monster. A year later, the 1100 takes place, with a few more horses and a big extra mkg. However, find you the temperament of Bologna on this creation of Rimini ?
Nay! which does not mean that Bimota does in conformism. The twin is the only thing that seems to be borrowed from the series. All the rest of the Delirio seems to have been created in a moment of madness of a creator, only intended for a particular soul. Here, each room wants to set its conditions. After the eye, it is the ear that we tend towards the inverted Marzocchi fork treated anti-friction, towards the frame and the oscillating arm in steel tubes, towards the furious pots ripping open the back of the machine. .. on the lookout for the slightest call that would like to challenge us with a “Get started – Take us to the exception!”.

BIMOTA DB6 DELIRIOThe fork crown, a sort of crazy mask, will only house the speedometer, taken from the DB5. Almost superfluous on a machine of such a stripping which oscillates between nudity and salient angles. As always at Bimota, the watchwords are design, innovation and passion. However, on this Delirio, only the swingarm is a concept that you don’t see anywhere else. The other technical solutions are known without being completely popularized: kid’s inverted fork with magnificent radial brake caliper supports, new wave brake tracks, a tiny size, a contained weight (170 kg). In addition to its dazzling design, the other strengths of the DB6 are its impeccable quality of finish and the attention to detail that permeates each of them. It will take that to get the note … salty.
