Blacksmith Electric B3

Electric scooter from India

Blacksmith Electric has introduced a new electric scooter with the B3. The new model relies on a battery exchange system and a range of 120 kilometers.

D.he new Blacksmith Electric B3 does not come as a Vespa clone like many competitors, but goes its own way – a futuristically angular one.

Space for the whole family

The leg shield of the 1.95 meter long, 0.72 meter wide and 1.15 meter high B3 is equipped with an angular light attachment in the Darth Vader style. A retro-style light sits on the front fender. A high pane provides wind and weather protection. A large storage compartment on the inside of the leg shield holds travel essentials. The long, level bench above the boxy stern offers space for the whole family. A small longitudinally adjustable sissy bar supports the last passenger. Accordingly, the side running boards are also long and consistently flat. In the side parts there are also additional fold-out footboards for children. So there is enough space and a load of 200 kilograms is also generous. When viewed from the rear, the B3 brings back memories of chrome-adorned US car models from the 1950s. The LED rear light is hidden under long chrome slats that extend to the lower end of the rear.

The Blacksmith Electric B3 rolls on multi-spoke cast aluminum wheels, with disc brakes on both wheels. A telescopic fork on the front wheel takes care of guidance and suspension. When parked, the B3 finds a safe stand on its main stand.

Up to 120 kilometers range

The electric motor in the B3 brings 5 kW continuous and up to 14.5 kW peak power to the start. The maximum torque is given as 96 Nm. The driver can limit the top speed in four stages from 60 to 120 km / h. 3.6 seconds are mentioned as the sprint time to 50 km / h. The maximum range with one battery charge should be 120 kilometers. The battery should be filled again within four hours. Alternatively, Blacksmith pilots can get a freshly charged battery at a battery swap station. That should only take four minutes. A corresponding network is still to be set up in India.

Of course, the digital cockpit can be extensively networked and the smartphone can also dock. Various functions can be monitored and configured via the app.

The Indians still leave the crucial question of price unanswered. A market launch date has not yet been announced.

Conclusion

Unmistakable style, well thought-out practicality and innovative drive concept – it’s a shame that the Blacksmith Electric B3 is only intended for the Indian market. We could imagine that the scooter would also find acceptance in Europe.
