BM never acts like everyone else. At the time of dusting his monos, the Bavarian manufacturer takes the opportunity to type a little in the anthill. Not content with daring with a singular stroke of the pencil, the new 650 Scarver brings together several original technical solutions: a toothed belt to transfer the 50 hp of the Rotax injection engine, an aluminum single-arm, a catalyzed exhaust; the tank goes down under the saddle to create a storage space (stuff-bay) which can accommodate various options such as an audio system (at a surreal price), an anti-theft spider to protect a helmet, a hard case, etc…. We have already seen all this on different motorcycles but never all assembled on the same model; and a mono in addition. But not just any. Very flexible, its approval is further reinforced thanks to the belt which attenuates the chain effect in low revs. Powerful for a mono, it is efficient but not overdone. His lack of character does not prevent him from taking the Scarver along, the chassis taking care of drawing nice trajectories. The firmness of the damping surprises on a typical trail machine but not for a supermotard orientation. On the road of good quality, the Scarver is a credit to its pilot. The lively chassis and the naturally nervous behavior of the mono invite you to drive at a good pace. The inability to adjust the suspensions and braking, powerful enough but not enough enduring, however limits the use of muscular. BMW F 650 CS ScarverAbuse of sport should be consumed in moderation. Don’t have too much fun wandering the paths either. The belt doesn’t really like chippings and other unwelcome guests. This mode of transmission is however full of advantages: clean, maintenance-free, it resists twice as long as a conventional chain. In town, the little BM has thought of you. The original saddle at 780 mm from the ground can be brought down to 750 mm at your request. You can accumulate various objects (useful or not) in the stuff-bay, from the city map to the wallet through the MP3 player. The rear luggage rack design is more of an ornamental appendage than really useful: small, impossible to attach a top case or to strap your big bag to it.

But they are not stupid at BM: there are a multitude of options to equip the Scarver, more or less useful and hardly cheap. ABS is optional (so much the better: too sensitive for the rear) as well as the warning (why so?). The dashboard is not what you expect from a BM. It is certainly practically complete but the calligraphy is to c …. The concept is innovative, the machine sparkling and agile but the realization deserves more attention. Especially since the F 650 CS is a BM and charges dearly BMW F 650 CS Scarverhis qualities.

Since 2004, the mono benefits from dual ignition, new colors, and above all, the Scarver can now receive a top-case. It just goes to show that surprising is good – listening and satisfying the people is even better.
