BMW honors Dakar winner Hubert Auriol

In 1983 Hubert Auriol won the Dakar on a BMW. BMW France is now honoring the ex-rally driver with a special model based on the R nine T Urban G / S.

The special model BMW R. nineT Urban G / S Dakar Series # 1 was at the Wheels Festival & Waves presented in Biarritz. It is only offered on the French market. It was launched in honor of Hubert Auriol, who won the Dakar for the second time 40 years ago on a BMW G / S. The 40 years also set the limit for the edition of the special model, because more than 40 copies should not be built.

Only in France and from 18,500 euros

The optional equipment of the BMW R nineT Urban G / S Dakar Series # 1 includes a black spoke rim at the rear and a gold-colored one at the front. There is also a single-seater bench with luggage rack, the valve cover "Silver", new side covers with the number 83 referring to the Dakar winning year and a special paint finish in white with blue decorative stripes and yellow Urban G / S lettering . The special model is rounded off by an engraved plaque on the tank, which also bears Hubert Auriol’s signature.

The BMW R nineT Urban G / S Dakar Series # 1 is only available in France. The basic price is 18,500 euros.

BMW knows how to skillfully create special models from its history. The Auriol-BMW should also become a collector’s item with potential for appreciation.
