The Naumann was agitating

Bernhard Naumann is known as a tin man in the custom scene. He redesigned an R 18 for BMW – with a lot of sheet metal, of course.

D.he new BMW R 18 has already been presented, but is still not on the market. In order to fuel the market launch in September 2020 even further, BMW is pushing ahead with the now presented Blechmann R 18, another custom conversion based on the new classic boxer.

Just changed the look

The creative mind behind the Blechmann R 18 is Bernhard Naumann, a well-known customizer from Austria, whom they all just know on the scene "Tin Man" call. However, the creativity did not go to the substance of the R 18, only to its periphery. In other words: the frame and technology remained untouched, only the add-on parts that dock on the original assembly points were modified. And they were made from chased sheet metal.

Without sketches

Unlike many of his customizer colleagues, Naumann develops directly on the object. He doesn’t need sketches. He worked his way from back to front on the Blechmann R 18. The single seat hump with side number plates and leather seat rolls were created on the basis of the series rear, the rear light comes from Kellermann. Only then was the tank adjusted. It got narrower and got pronounced cutouts for the knees. So even more of the engine triumph should be seen and the line should also be sharpened sporty. The low-lying, frame-fixed half-shell cladding grows out of the tank with integrated headlights in the BMW kidney style, which are equipped with small LEDs. Here Naumann tries to build a bridge to the BMW cars. The pilot grips in deeply mounted steering stubs that have been evaluated from the series tubular handlebar.

BMW

In total, the sheet metal man worked 450 hours with his team on the implementation of the sheet metal man R 18. With the -Giggerl, Naumann had already braided an R nineT from BMW in 2018.
