Second generation of BMW “Adventure” with this variation of the 1200 GS. With the number of backpackers and adventurers which continues to increase, the manufacturer had to bring a descendant worthy of the name to the R 1150 GS Adventure. With the technological innovation brought to the 1200, the new “ready-for-the-round-the-world” motorcycle from the Bavarian manufacturer feels growing wings.
The Adventure is not a vulgar big trail grafted with 2 suitcases. It is a true development of GS, prepared to take you to the borders of civilization. Based on the 1200, this offroad version is equipped with a 33 liter tank, tubular profiles protecting the tank and the cylinders, a larger screen, a suspension travel increased by 20 mm, footrests larger combined with a
adjustable brake pedal and gear selector and height adjustable saddle.
We obviously find the technical specificities of the 1200 GS, such as the excellent Boxer engine of 1170 cm3, the new version of the Telelever, the new Paralever swingarm as well as the new on-board electronics. As a result, the new Adventure is lighter than the 1150 although more equipped, and much more efficient (+ 15% power) with the new flat twin..
Design level, BM was able to take the lively style of the standard 1200 by sticking a trekking suit. We immediately want to go for a walk in the African trails or in the Australian countryside.
A few points to emphasize:
the tank carries 3 liters more than the old 1150 Adventure and 13 additional liters compared to the base 1200, which gives it a theoretical autonomy of 750 km while driving at 90 km / h.
In addition to the tank guards and cylinder guards, small aluminum guards protect the cylinder head covers.
The motorcycle has a generous and rigid luggage rack, made of stainless steel, which can accommodate an optional aluminum top case. Large aluminum side cases are also available as an option for longer trips..
The light alloy handlebars are provided with a shock-absorbing foam protection encased in plastic material. Hand guards are standard.
The R 1200 GS Adventure comes standard with proven, robust cross-spoke wheels.
The alternator delivers 120 W more.
