Always serene in its supremacy, the R 1200 GS has quietly offered a small evolution to remain an essential model in the category. Reinforced silhouette, new options, including the ESA Dynamic ‘Next Generation’, adaptation of the injection and the catalyst to switch to Euro4, and without any loss of power since the big Bavarian trail still displays its 125 horsepower and 12.7 mkg.
Miss GS does not only come in multiple displacements (310, 700, 800); it is also now multiplying its versions. Standard for most, Exclusive for the more road, and Rally for those more tempted by its adventurous side.
A revival of the 2012 special series? Not exactly, but it comes close. The BMW R 1200 GS Rallye immediately stands out with its sporty coloring, its invasive blue sprinkled with the armories of the Motorsport department. The framework does not especially want to be discreet, while being excited about a blue lacquering. It announces the rhythm. Then, the equipment is enriched with the necessary to face raid and discovery terrain. The rims are standard spoked, which can optionally be fitted with studded tires. To boost the pilot, this GS benefits from a more ergonomic saddle, a lower sport screen, and wider enduro-type footrests.
On the protection side, it is reinforced, with a protective grid on the radiator, hand guards, and frame guards at the level of the boots. However, it leaves the Adventure its armor based on imposing side tubes. But it is however possible to offer it cylinder guards.
To complement as it should the potential of the Rally, it is possible to opt (as an option) for a Sport chassis, firmer via an increase in the stiffness of the springs. Also, the increase in the length of the combined spring / shock absorber, thus offering more travel, allows more optimism during outings on rough terrain. Only, you will have to afford the ESA Dynamic to take advantage of this improvement..
Note the differences by pointing out that on the Rally, the radiator covers are made of stainless steel and the brake calipers take on a golden tint..
With more crossing capacity and a much more dynamic pace, the R 1200 GS Rallye increases the potential of the queen of trails. More distinctive, more efficient, it only offers its best by drawing heavily on the catalog of options; like any BMW. Above all, it allows you to reconnect with a marked adventurer side that maxi-trails can only imagine..
