Bol d’Or 2013: Kawasaki wins for the second time in a row
The Kawasaki SRC n ° 11 has just signed its second consecutive victory at the Bol d’Or, after leading the race masterfully by resisting the assaults of the Suzuki n ° 1 of SERT which finished 3rd behind the Yamaha n ° 7 of the YART, and the Yamaha n ° 94 of the GMT which fails at the foot of the podium.
The Kawasaki SRC n ° 11 has just signed its mark, after having led the race masterfully by resisting the assaults of the Suzuki n ° 1 of the SERT which finished 3rd behind the Yamaha n ° 7 of the YART, and of the Yamaha n ° 94 of the GMT which fails at the foot of the podium.
At three hours from the finish, while Gregory Leblanc, Loris Baz and Jeremy Guarnoni on the lead bike "managed" their ten laps ahead by setting times of 1’45, behind the fight was raging for the podium: the Yamaha n ° 7 of the YART struggled vigorously to protect its second position – acquired following the – ardor of the Suzuki n ° 1 – climbed from 33rd to 3rd position following its .
But the reigning world champion, third to three laps of the Austrian Yamaha, also had to watch for a possible rise of the R1 # 94 from GMT, ambushing a little lap further to fourth place. !
At 13:40, the Yamaha n ° 94, still in fourth position two laps from the Suzuki n ° 1, had to stop again in its pit for a quick mechanical intervention, further reducing its chances of a podium. "Getting back on the podium seems difficult but we continue to fight!" Declared the Val-de-Marne team, which will therefore have to be content with fourth place.
"We will only keep the very good things from this race, such as the fight with the Kawasaki at the start of the race which was fabulous, the Michelin tires and our R1 which worked very well", explained Christophe Guyot at a quarter of an hour from the finish line: "of course there is the disappointment of not being on the podium, but let’s keep in mind that we performed well!"
"My idea is to finish as high as possible!", Warned Dominique Meliand a little before noon, "that is to say maybe on the second step … I take care of the pilots , but I’m still going to push them so that they finish as well as possible! "… Climbing from the depths of the standings overnight, the Suzuki n ° 1 limits damage with this dearly acquired third place.
In Superstock, the Suzuki n ° 72 of the Junior Team (5th scratch) won ahead of the BMW n ° 13 of the German team Penz 13, reigning world champion (6th scratch), and the Suzuki n ° 50 of Motors Events ( 9th scratch).
In the Open category, the Metiss n ° 45 (12th scratch) confirms its domination in endurance races and wins the category ahead of the Ducati 1199 Panigale n ° 17 of Scuderia 2 Roues, 37th scratch.
