Bol d'Or - The n ° 36 JPP Racing Suzuki is aiming for the finish! -

While the SERT seals its probable victory, the feat of Suzuki n ° 36 JPP Racing deserves to be highlighted: red lantern with a budget of € 4,000, the Mayenne team made a good comeback to come back 36th out of 38 crews still in the race.

In the 20th hour of the race, the Suzuki n ° 1 of SERT maintains its lead with another 5 laps ahead of n ° 2.

Behind, the regiment of three Yamaha – the n ° 7 of Yamaha Austria, n ° 3 of Phase One Endurance and n ° 94 of the GMT, then recovered in fifth position – has just been invaded by the Kawasaki n ° 11 of Team Kawasaki France, boosted, which passes 5th then 4th in front of the Yamaha n ° 3 !

The British team n ° 3 led by Gowland, Teuchert and Cudlin seems to have subscribed to the 4th place: 4th at the Bol d’Or 2007 and 4th at the beginning of August at Oschersleben.

As team manager Russel Benney explains to Site, the goal is to progress and get a place on the podium.

Although third during the night, four hours from the finish the gap seemed to widen with the n ° 7, third for several laps, with moreover an overtaking in the 21st hour by the Kawasaki ZX-10R n ° 11 of the Team Kawasaki France.

Still, the bike encountered only minor problems for the jovial Russel Benney: a stuck brake caliper piston and an inconsequential crash overnight by Graeme Gowland cost them a total of 5 minutes. But it was a problem with the rear wheel that caused them to lose 3rd place last night.

The Suzuki n ° 72 of the Junior Team recovered the pole of the Superstock by moving up to 8th position overall, just two places ahead of its colleague, the Suzuki n ° 95 of Qatar Endurance (also managed by Damien Saulnier).

Finally, let us point out the feat of the Suzuki n ° 36 of JPP Racing: red lantern at the 17th hour of the race then in the tail trio, the Mayenne team made a good comeback to return to 36th shortly after noon.

Despite its limited resources (4000 euros all included!) And the fatigue of its pilots, the team remained motivated to finish its first Bol d’Or! It is with the bare minimum that the 1000 GSX-R (2005 model) must cross the line of this 72nd Bol d’Or. And despite six falls since yesterday, the bike has held up well because without a spare fairing, breakage must be avoided at all costs….

At 10 am this morning during a pit stop, the track marshal noticed an oil leak … Quickly, the bike entered the box and can only restart once the leak has been found. Without panicking, the mechanics bustle around the machine and the faulty crankcase is quickly spotted and tightened.

The motorcycle can then resume racing after a 16-minute stoppage. It just goes to show that amateurism and iron will are not incompatible within a group of friends, because with less than three hours to go, the n ° 36 is well on its way to complete its first Bol d’Or !

In front, the places of honor seem to freeze … But stay connected !
