Magny-Cours, September 13, 2009 – The Austrian team of the Yamaha n ° 7 relishes its new title of world endurance champion 2009 (never seen with a Yamaha equipped with Michelin) … with nearly an hour in advance ! Video © Site.

Abruptly returned to the pit shortly after noon, the Yamaha n ° 7 of the YART had suddenly disappeared from the lap times …

After a short moment of hesitation and worry, a quick visit to the Austrian stand reassures the worried: the happy faces of the team members quickly make it clear that there is no danger in the house. !

The team of the Yamaha n ° 7 paved in Michelin simply began to celebrate its title of world endurance champion by uncorking the bottles … of beer !

The team manager has in fact preferred to make sure to finish this Bol d’Or 2009 classified by keeping the Yamaha in the pit, because a leak on a hose and an electrical problem on the R1 risked breakdown and abandonment, this which would be the worst case scenario.

With this modest 35th place in the Bol, YART is therefore assured of its world title because it was enough for it to finish the Nivernaise event and to score a single point despite the last event in Doha on November 8 in Qatar..

The R1 n ° 7 therefore quietly took to the track just before 3:00 p.m., out of respect for the public and the organization. !

And during this time on the private side, at 12:30 p.m. a fuse got the better of the Suzuki n ° 69 Moto Virus to rise to 11th place, behind the n ° 95 GSX-R of Qatar Endurance: the GSX-R stopped net and the pilot had to bring her back to the stand with the stroller, to the applause of the neighboring teams. This incident puts an end to the ambitions of Jean-Luc Nicolas: to regain the 8th place lost during a fall that night which had resulted in 16 minutes of pit stop. The Suzuki, second in the provisional world championship, should finish around 19th place.

On the other hand, things have been rolling since last night for the n ° 38 GSX-R of the TMS Racing team: 27th one hour from the finish, the team did not manage to recover the ten places lost during the night, but everything the team is and satisfied considering that the team was brand new !

As for the Firefighters of Team 18, they must ensure until the end: 4th one hour from the finish, the team will then have had an almost perfect race. “The drivers drive fast and are consistent, no serious problem broke our pace and we set off to have a superb race!”, Rejoices Olivier Guyonnet: “during two thirds of the race we were in a fight with n ° 41. In front, the crews are faster than us and we can’t do anything on a regular basis, except try to grab a few seconds "…
