Together with the Indonesian Institute of Science, students from the Budi Luhur University in Jakarta designed and built an electric motorcycle completely themselves. The regionally known customizer Katros Custom was hired for the design.

As a study project, simply building a motorcycle can sweeten a semester. This is what happens to the students at the Budi Luhur Technical University in Jakarta, Indonesia. They constructed an electrically powered motorcycle completely themselves and were challenged in terms of technology: The entire technology had to be perfectly adapted to the special climatic conditions in Indonesia. The tropics must therefore not damage the electrons in the long term.

In accordance with this requirement of high resistance to humidity, the students had to completely redevelop the three main components of the battery, motor and control system. You were supported by the Indonesian Institute of Science, the Ministry of Science of Indonesia. The result is a brushless direct current motor with permanent magnets (BLDC motor) with a voltage of 96 volts and an output of 16 kilowatts, equivalent to just under 22 hp. The battery should have a capacity of 48 ampere hours and the BL SEV 01 baptized self-creation allow a range of 110 kilometers. Charging time probably four hours.

For the extraordinary design of the aluminum body, the well-known customizer Katros Custom from Jakarta was hired, who gives the motorcycle a unique, eccentric look. The result is a very modern designed Cafe Racer with a high affinity for technology. Lightning bolts to represent the drive method determine the paint design and the covered rear wheel rim in particular creates an effect as if it were standing completely on its own.

In the case of the student project at the Indonesian university and their electric motorcycle, this is clearly proven.
