A new director at Yamaha
Gerard Valat has just joined the Yamaha Motor France team as Director of Divisions and Marketing, a new position created within the management of number one in France. Does the future successor of Jean-Claude Olivier now have a name ?
"A motorcycle man but above all a man of passion, Gerard Valat made his debut in motocross with his brothers"Says Yamaha Motor France by announcing the appointment of Gerard Valat to the newly created post of"director of divisions and marketing (motorcycle, power products, mMarine, technical and accessories)"
And in fact, "at 16 he was already participating in the French Junior Motocross Championship on Yamaha and today, he regularly practices the products of the range whether it is motorcycle, quad or jet", continues the number one in France.
Founder of Oakley Europe in 1982, Gerard Valat then sold it to his majority shareholder after the Oakley USA IPO and embarked on foot-wear by creating a collection of motorcycle boots for Puma. ” it distributes in 40 countries.
"My father had taken me with him to Yamaha in Gennevilliers to explain himself to the technical service who did not want to guarantee a defective hub on my motorcycle.", recalls Gerard Valat, recalling his first meeting with Jean-Claude Olivier, the big boss of Yamaha Motor France."He had asked to meet with JCO to explain our problem to him. The latter listened to us, understood us and we won our case. This Jean-Claude Olivier way of working, I have always admired it and I have always tried to be inspired by it in my professional career.", he continues:"joining Yamaha today is for me, beyond an exciting challenge, a real honor".
Same satisfaction on the side of JCO, which emphasizes that "this choice is based on the human values that our brand has always maintained and will strengthen our management, thus contributing to perpetuate the development of Yamaha Motor France through its expertise in distribution and its leadership in the animation of the sales force and networks".
JCO also relies heavily on the "creativity, experience and knowledge of design and industrial processes"by Gerard Valat, who"will help it to anticipate changes in our markets and face a growing competitive environment".
The duel for first place in France against Jean-Luc Mars, freshly landed at Honda directly from Harley-Davidson (read), is already shaping up to be exciting !
