We have talked a lot about the banana, but the economic war between the United States and the European Union over customs duties applicable to products from either side has a motorcycle component. !
Who would’ve believed that. The Americans, who cannot export their hormone-containing beef to Europe for reasons of public health – contrary to the directives of the World Trade Organization (WTO) -, threaten to increase by 100% the import taxes of motorcycles small displacement and European scooters. In other words, denying them de facto access to the US market.
"What is the relationship between beef and motorcycles?" Asked the representative in Washington of the American Motorcycle Assosciation (AMA), which has 234,000 members, while many spokespersons in the motorcycle industry denounced the risks run by the thousands of Americans who own European motorcycles, who will soon be unable to find spare parts if these sanctions are adopted in June as planned … All they have to do is ride their bikes and eat vegetables ?!
