Change of management at Triumph France

The CEO of Triumph France, Geraud Duchassin, left his post on March 8. The interim is provided by Karl Wharton, number 2 of Triumph international seconded in France for several months, but no replacement is planned for the moment..

It was an internal information note from the Triumph network which announced it on March 8: Mr. Geraud Duchassin, CEO of Triumph SA (which includes France, Switzerland and Benelux), is no longer part of the society.

While the headquarters of Triumph refuses to give the slightest explanation for this departure, some sources interviewed by Moto-Net believe that this "movement of the head" could be explained by a disagreement linked to the fact that France is no longer the main market in the eyes of Triumph: "the French market is an old market, which still suffers from unfavorable word of mouth linked to the unreliability of the first models. While Italy and Germany, for example, which only discovered Triumph with the new models without particular reliability problems, do not experience these difficulties".

Sales of Triumph in France at the start of the year nonetheless remained excellent: 450 registrations in January and February 2001, for a total of 2100 registrations in 2000. The very first Triumph Shop, which will be launched in April on the side de Montpellier, also testifies to the good performance of the British brand in France, even if several Triumph dealers have stopped the brand in recent months (such as Moto Legend in Villejuif, which is on trial with Triumph for a dark history of Benelli scooters, or Top Level in Corbeil).

Reasons for internal reorganization in the Triumph network, such as the new management rules imposed by head office on dealers, could be the cause of these departures. In particular, automatic 120-day withdrawals during an order are sometimes difficult to bear for small dealers who do not have a strong enough back..

Among those who continue to work with Triumph, such as Folie Mericourt in Paris, we are delighted to "see an increase in Triumph demand when dealers discontinue the brand".

Finally on the head office side, it is said that the dealer network is doing well: "we currently have between 72 and 75 dealers in France and we are always looking for new ones", explains the communications manager Radouane Marez. To be continued…
