2014 was a bright year for KTM. December 16th already – and at 9am sharp! -, the Mattighofen plant celebrated the hundred thousandth motorcycle of the year to roll off its Austrian production line. A milestone that had not been crossed neither in 2013 nor in previous years.
Husqvarna |
Acquired from BMW by KTM owner Pierer Industries AG, Husqvarna also had a flourishing 2014 with 16,337 motorcycles sold and turnover exceeding the 100 million euro threshold for the first time..
, the brand brilliantly celebrated its 111 candles, "gaining market share in the competition enduro segment and making a remarkable comeback in motocross with nearly 6,000 motorcycles sold". "In 2015, Husqvarna will pursue its growth strategy", warn its leaders. The" Huskys "have indeed planned this year … and still have other" arrows "(" pilen "in Swedish) to shoot ! |
Two weeks later, the Austrian brand did the accounts and set a new record: thanks to its and its Husqvarna brand (see box opposite), the KTM group reached a total of "158,760 motorcycles sold worldwide in 2014, an increase of + 28.2% compared to last year" !
More numerous, the "mechanical oranges" remained juicy since they produced "a turnover of 846.6 million euros, an increase of + 20.7%"compared to a year 2013 which was already not lacking in flavor (read).
Continuing with their 2014 global balance sheet, senior KTM officials also point out that their earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT in English, operating income in French) are up sharply: "over 75 million euros (+ 37%)".
The Austrians are not only proud of their profits, however: "in 2014, KTM invested around 85 million euros in Mattighofen and Munderfing (their two national factories, Editor’s note), which represents an increase of + 46.6% compared to 2013".
Likewise, Stefan Pierer’s men are pleased to have hired 294 people this year (including 182 in Austria), bringing the number of employees to 2,143 worldwide. Here again, this is a record for this company … determined to do even better in 2015! To be continued on MNC: stay connected !
