Quadro Vehicles S.A., the Italian company based in Switzerland behind the 3 and 4-wheel scooters Quadro3 and Quadro4, inaugurates its French subsidiary to strengthen its visibility against the behemoths Piaggio MP3. Quadro France, chaired by Giuseppe Tranchina, initially wishes to "strengthen ties with dealers and prepare the network for the arrival of new products".

Storming MP3

"After having sold several thousand vehicles on the national territory, Quadro wishes to strengthen its presence", explains by Luciano Marabese, whose company Marabese Design is – ironically – at the origin of the concept of two-wheeled front axle and parallelogram used on … Piaggio MP3 !

"This new entity will allow a better proximity between the manufacturer and its user customers and will thus facilitate the exchange of information", develops the Italian brand which passed under the Swiss flag in 2011, shortly after launching its first three-wheeled scooter: the 350S, now renamed Quadro3 (read our).

Evoking its intention "to establish a lasting presence in France", one of the most fond of 3-wheelers in Europe, Quadro hopes to gain additional funds from the historical and undisputed leader of the segment: its compatriot Piaggio and its famous MP3s. Peugeot with its Metropolis, although very largely dominated by Piaggio, is also in Quadro’s sights (see table below).

The opening on September 1 of Quadro France is one of the logical steps to achieve this goal, but the task is no less difficult: during the, Piaggio sold some 3,958 MP3 in France (76.23% of shares market) versus 169 Quadro (3.26% of market share).

Optimists will see high growth potential, while others will point out the worrying erosion of the challenger’s sales: over the same period last year, 325 Quadro found takers in France, almost twice as many as this year. . Admittedly, the 3-wheeler market is clearly bearish (-12.2%), but all the same…

The price of the Quadro4 drops by 2,500 euros in 2017 !

The "Italian-Swiss" firm nevertheless shows ingenuity to both exist in the shadow of the leader and stand out from it, as evidenced by the arrival of its astonishing 4-wheel scooter, the Quadro4 (read our ), whose very – too – high price has been seriously reduced for the start of the school year: € 9,990 against € 12,490 originally !

The Quadro3, the brand’s first Euro4 homologated vehicle, also benefits from an attractive repositioning with an "introductory price" set at € 6,990. Will this aggressive pricing policy combined with the real dynamic qualities of Quadro scooters and its official establishment in France finally make the brand take off?
