SIDAM ceases its collaboration with Voxan
Deploring a lack of results and extremely confidential sales, SIDAM Europe, importer of Chinese brands in France, announces that it will no longer distribute Voxan. A new page turns in the brand’s long novel… Details.
Voxan’s satisfaction at not being evicted from its premises in Issoire will have been short-lived (read): after this concern about production, it is now a new distribution problem that French motorcycles must face…
"SIDAM Europe ceases all collaboration with Voxan", indicates SIDAM which defines itself as"main player in the renewal of the distribution of Voxan products in France and to most European countries since the end of 2006", but announces"today the end of all collaboration with SCCM-Voxan"…
The "Voxan novel" continues…
The "Voxan novel" therefore continues, and a new page is turned … A page unfortunately remained almost blank in terms of sales in France: as a reminder in 2007, Voxan had sold 55 motorcycles and was no longer even in the annual top 30 (read)…
"For Voxan, we consider it to be the year (2007, Editor’s note) restart to restore confidence with the measures taken but frankly, we were hoping for better than the result obtained", Pierre Laurent-Chauvet, President of SIDAM, told us during our end-of-year market report (read).
"It was going wrong on a lot of levels", admits today Pierre Laurent-Chauvet, for whom"distribution, in general, is based on fundamentals such as professionalism, construction, development and good commercial orientation"…
"We don’t sell motorcycles
like we sell boats or real estate "…
Demotivated by "the lack of results, the lack of follow-up and by a false hope of industrial restructuring", the separation between Voxan and SIDAM therefore seemed inevitable:"it happens, as it happens at other weddings", relativizes the head of SIDAM…
"We do not sell motorcycles as we sell computers, boats or real estate for example", also slips Pierre Laurent-Chauvet, specifying besides that the SIDAM concessions will take only the decision to continue or not to distribute the French brand.
Good or bad news ? Eric Terrasse, chairman of the board of the Societe de conception et de construction de motocycles (SCCM Voxan), is careful not to rule: "customers will tell", he tells Site…
"It was a mistake"
"We have tried this partnership with SIDAM in France and in a few countries such as Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, England and the Czech Republic. In the end, we observe that this is an error, it is preferable for Voxan to deal directly with the French concessions.", explains Eric Terrasse who is about to sign"in the coming hours"contracts with Ukraine, Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania…
Indeed, "since the dismantling of the USSR, we are witnessing in these eastern countries the advent of the new rich who wish to acquire high-end products", reasons Eric Terrasse.
It therefore remains to convey an image of luxury "à la française" in order to acquire market shares worthy of the name … "The season is short there, you have to start quickly. If things go well, we could imagine a showroom in Moscow (after all, we sold a Charade in Nepal!), But you have to go little by little", continues the chairman of the management board.
Divorce by mutual consent ?
And on this subject of the separation between SIDAM and Voxan, Didier Cazeaux (the buyer of Voxan in 2003, read) is of the same opinion: "it’s a decision that we all made together: with Didier who owns 80% of the brand’s shares, but also with the new shareholders, resulting from the capital increase (2.1 million euros) of February 5 latest", specifies Eric Terrasse.
Regarding the GTV 1200, the launch of this motorcycle "remains current", he assures. Only here too, Voxan wishes to change its methods:"we will no longer show a model motorcycle to market the product for months afterwards. From now on, when we present new products, we will be able to take orders and deliver them, say, within three weeks.", explains the chairman of the management board, who also recalls that the new Black Classic are available !
Job offer
Finally, to (re) relaunch itself, Voxan wishes to recruit a sales manager, whose main missions will be to "play the role of "French importer", that is to say to be in direct contact with the French concessions", insists Eric Terrasse,"but also to animate and develop the global network by motivating present and future importers"….
