The Italians have long been renowned for the quality of their chassis and their design; the Japanese are for the excellence of their engines. Based on this observation, Cagiva engineers attempted a marriage of convenience tinged with passion … and here is the child who was born: the Raptor.
This offspring is not in the lace. It is a sport roadster with a silhouette that is both original and aggressive – a machine from the new line of machines equipped with large sports mills (Ducati S4, Honda X-11, MV-Agusta Brutale …). The very successful twin of the Suzuki 1000 TLS is located in the trellis frame. An extraordinarily flexible boiler, very lively, which does not vibrate and climbs the towers with joy. It offers the Raptor great performances and covers. The rigorous chassis lets you harness the potential of this bubbling motorbike without worry. Equipped as standard with sports tires, the machine immediately puts you in the bath with startling efficiency. The angle changes are made with formidable ease, the machine being both light and agile. A treat to drive.
Perfection is not of this world but the faults of the Raptor are disappointing for an Italian. Although it is of Brembo origin, the braking would be more appreciable with better bite but more power. As for the finish, an effort must be made, especially on this machine frankly licked at the design level.
Overall, the Raptor is really exciting. A singular and seductive look, an engine that is very healthy, a playful part-cycle … really something to have fun and to shake up the flagship values of the category. If the Cagiva tempts you but you need a little more eccentricity, the manufacturer also offers the V-Raptor version, equipped with a fork head straight out of a Japanese manga..
