Enduro instructor falls victim to tragic accident
The enduro instructor who lives in Spain drowns trying to get his group of bikers home safely.

His name had an excellent reputation not only in the German hobby enduro scene. Christoph del Bondio was well known among off-road and motorcycle travelers all over Europe. Born in Munich (62), he had led enduro riders on courses and adventure tours through his adopted Spanish home in the eastern Pyrenees for years. There he was the victim of a tragic accident on Thursday, November 15th – not by motorcycle, but on foot.
Bach grows into a raging river
While trying to find a safe way through the water for his motorcycle group, del Bondio drowned in a normally harmless stream. The ford was heavily flooded by extreme rainfall, and the brook had grown into a raging river. Four motorcyclists from southern Germany who had been on a day tour with del Bondio reported that their guide had initially successfully crossed the ford on a motorcycle. But then del Bondio had evidently had to realize that the passage was too dangerous for his group, as the water rose rapidly. So he tried to find another way and wanted to walk back to the group. Apparently he lost his footing and was swept away by the water.
Funeral service in February or March in the Pyrenees
The four motorcyclists from southern Germany wanted to help their guide, but couldn’t get hold of him. The Spanish fire brigade found the lifeless body of the man from Munich eight hours later further downstream. Our condolences go out to his relatives, his partner and his closest co-workers.
His employees are preparing a memorial service for the large, international circle of friends of the charismatic tour guide, which is to take place in the Pyrenees in February or March 2019.
