Maison Sarolea by Guy de Becker and Marc Lepoudre

Guy de Becker has just published a book dedicated to the Belgian brand Sarolea, one of the flagships of European motorcycles of the last century. To know everything about the Blue Bird, the Atlantic, the Colonial, etc..

The Belgian manufacturer Sarolea is today the subject of a book written by Guy de Becker and Marc Lepoudre: "The Sarolea House". The first motorcycles left the Sarolea factory in Herstal (Belgium) in 1898, and were very successful in Europe from the start of the 20th century..

The brand then established itself from the 1940s by producing machines recognized both for their mechanical and aesthetic qualities (see that of my grandfather in the photo, Editor’s note …), and obtained consecration at the Brussels Motor Show in 1949 with its 600 cc Supersport, described as "fast and designed for Belgian roads"(sic) by the press of the time.

Then came the 1950s and the models "Blue Bird","Continental","Featured","Atlantic","Colonial", then the merger with Gillet in 1960. Guy de Becker, who has already published a book on another Belgian brand, the Fabrique Nationale -"When the FN had two wheels"-, will dedicate his book on the occasion of the Antique Vehicle Exchange on November 11 at the casino in Spa (Belgium)."The Sarolea House", Guy de Becker, Nostalgia Editions, 256 pages, 45 euros.
