KTM official Toby Price signs a fourth significant victory during the 8th stage of the Dakar moto 2016, taking the lead of the provisional classification from Honda-HRC rider Paulo Gonçalves with a lead of 2’05. Visibly well rested after the, the Australian dominated the course between Salta and Belen (Argentina) with a head and shoulders..
Price’s "pass of 4" is all the more striking as it occurs on the first stage including a dune area, where the differences are created between the good and the very good. Pablo Quintanilla took 3rd time ahead of Stefan Svitko, 6’32 behind the leader. When all the times have been counted tonight, it appears that the Husqvarna rider has moved up to fourth place in the provisional, now led by Price ahead of Gonçalves and Svitko.
The young Kevin Benvides offers himself a nice 5th place at 8’06 ahead of Helder Rodrigues, Gerard Farres and Antoine Meo, who feared this demanding stage in terms of technique and navigation. In the end, the French – who signed his – saves the furniture with the 8th place of the day, at 10’50.
The KTM official is in 6th position in the provisional at 28’44, ahead of Yamaha official Helder Rodrigues. The French Adrien Van Beveren and Alain Duclos respectively finished the stage in 10th and 13th positions. The rookie on Yamaha and his experienced compatriot strengthen their presence in the Top 15 in the provisional.
