Buell XB9SX CityX

Drive into the blue

Erik Buell obviously has the blues, his motorcycles now come in blue: The XB12 models in “Thrust Blue” and the XB9SX CityX in “Hero Blue” with translucent plastic parts and cross handlebars.

Buell already has what KTM wants to bring: a fun bike with a fat V2 drive. The latest versions, XB12S and R, impressed with theirs
rich torque, which recently suffered interest in the more revving 9 series
a little. That’s why Erik Buell now has
hatched a peppy facelift that off
immediately in the form of the Lightning XB9SX CityX goes on sale.
It looks really cool: translucent plastic parts for the tank cover and windshield, plus hand protectors, a protective grille in front of the headlights and a wider handlebar with cross brace. The viewer reveals the direction immediately: a cool mix of supermoto, fun bike and street fighter.
The technique was only detailed
optimized. The Buell connoisseur immediately notices that the gears run a little better. Thanks to fine-tuning of the engine management system, this does not escape this-
direct load change. The fork grew in diameter by two millimeters, which is of little benefit to the steering precision. Device for sporty driving
Occasionally they stumble, harder springs from the range of accessories could help.
The new tires are much more important
at all Buells: The 12er now finally rolls on Dunlop D 208, which makes it cornering
runs considerably more smoothly than with the idiosyncratic D 207. The Pirelli Scorpion Sync on the CityX leave a similarly good impression with slightly less grip in handling.
The two millimeter thicker seat and the wider handlebars ensure a more active sitting position. Short-legged ones, however, dangle their feet in the air, but there is also something: Beside
the lower seat of the 12 is found
an extra flat bench in the accessories list. The best comes for last: With 9280 euros, the CityX keeps a proper distance from the 12er (11500 euros).
