There are always several options in life. and MZ offers five of them, at least with the 125cc Supermoto SM: in addition to the standard version for 3690 euros, four different special models. Only one of them is technically revised, the »Cup Replica«. Her name says it all, she is based on the material used in the MZ Youngster Cup

On its narrow 17-inch 110/70 and 130/70 models, the 131-kilogram lightweight stabbed corners as precisely as a wasp approaching a jam jar. The Heidenau K 66 rubbers, made in Saxony, allegedly come in a softer rubber compound than that of the sisters.
The most modern four-stroke engine in its class provides enough propulsion for sharp inclines. MZ promises a full 15 hp, while MOTORRAD has found real 14 hp. That’s very neat. Two overhead camshafts control four valves, and a double oil cooler keeps the temperature in the green area. It’s just a shame that the Spartan cockpit of the 4290 Euro Cup Replica lacks a tachometer. Quite supermoto, the reduction to what is absolutely necessary.
For people who like to provoke, the »MIG« version is just right. Technically, it corresponds to the standard model, but its gray paintwork with a red star looks like a Red Army interceptor. Crazy! That hardly compensates for the slack shock absorber and for the fork with soft springs with quite rich damping, but at least looks cooler than the dark blue painted SM. On the highway ?? the MIG does not run Mach 2, but downhill speedometer 140 ?? it moves clearly in the entablature. And when parking, the Sachsen-Jet, which is hanging deep in the springs, is too upright, threatening to crash.
When scurrying through the columns of cars, the low-flying aircraft convinces with brilliant handling at 3990 euros and then with an impressive appearance in front of the street cafe. Everything without a pilot’s license. tsr
