After honoring Troy Bayliss with a limited edition in the colors of his machine, Ducati also grants this favor to his other talented driver: Ben Bostrom. Available from a 998 S, the Bostrom Replica is adorned with the shimmering decoration of the 155 driving a World Superbike. Impossible that the eye avoids this red pistarde with the trails of flame on the fairing. The retina will inevitably block on this blue stripe dotted with stars…. but your connoisseur’s senses will seek the charm of this 998 much further.
Of course, his 136 horsepower twin with a hoarse, cavernous sound makes your right hand itch. The sparkle continues further: it’s the Ohlins elements that set it apart from a regular 998 S (which is content with a Showa fork). Little wink: the bike is fitted with Dunlop D 207 RR tires, sponsor of Bostrom.
Like the Bayliss, this replica is also equipped with elements of interest to many racers: Braking system with P4-34 brake calipers (four 34-mm diameter, 4 pistons) and 4 brake pads per caliper, master cylinder 15mm, new 4.5mm thick discs, and adjustable column angle.
Limited edition requires, a strategic number announces the number of copies that will be available. 465 exactly – or rather, 3 x 155, Ben Bostrom’s race number. 155 will be for the States, 155 for Europe, and 155 will be on the other routes (or collections) of the globe.
Anecdote: Models sold in North America were fitted with the standard 998 engine, developing 123 hp. To compensate, the trim was made of carbon fibers, as on the 996 R.
