For everyone, grabbing the handlebars means the beginning of a story, short or eternal, mundane or intense. But many would only dream of the everyday decor that fades when the thumb presses the starter, the wind sweeping the concrete to lay the stone and adventure beds..
The backpacker segment maintains this chimera, and Ducati intends to put its sherpas there. With his MTS, there is plenty to do, on character. Hypersportive trail, the 1200 Multistrada first offered itself a wide range of routes; until openly provoking the KTM Adventure and BMW GS with the Enduro version. This time, it is a question of going even further, to ogle towards this horizon from which the walls of dust rise, to put the crampons where there is no longer any difference between the path and the immensity. This destination is the job for the Pro version of the Multistrada Enduro.
In Bologna, we clearly do not want to find the smell of aromatics and sand, even if a desire for sport cannot be detached from the house DNA. The factory adroitly transforms the MTS Enduro by a series of modifications which reinforce its side adventurer…. or rather asserts it. Its warm sand color and its superb two-tone saddle announces the desert, its equipment the need to counter it. The Enduro Pro sees its spoked rims fitted with Pirelli Scorpion Rally studded tires, much more suitable for off-road than the Scorpion Trail of Enduro. The shoulders are protected by a Touratech tubular trellis, adorned with additional headlights. In order to provide visibility on the track, this MTS chooses a sport screen, which is lower. The sound system is released by a Termignoni titanium exhaust. Finally, the Pro is also distinguished by a black finish on the alternator and clutch housings. The weight climbs by 7 kilos with 261 full units made.
Like the rest of the range, the Mutistrada Enduro Pro is powered by the large twin native to the sporty 1198. Advertised for 160 hp on all MTS, it delivers a handful of watts here to display 152 hp and torque down to 13 mkg – strange? No, new measurement standards. That is enough to devastate any rut, lay down a few trees and slip away much faster than the Sirocco.
Widely supplied, the Pro benefits from the equipment installed as standard on the Enduro, namely the Skyhook piloted suspensions, 4 Riding Modes (Enduro, Touring, Sport and Urban), the IMU inertial unit and active ABS curve, a 5-inch color TFT screen, full LED lighting, cruise control, traction control, anti-wheeling, a 30-liter tank, a multimedia system with bluetooth.
A large crew, and no more excuses to stay on the asphalt while this Enduro Pro wants to survey other roads, the hard ones, those far away. All this for 2000 euros more and a window wide open on azimuths and parallels.
