Since 1999, the 748 evolves mechanically with a series of improved equipment: fork, alternator, brake housing, clutch housing, rear braking; plus some fine touch-ups to the fairing and the tank. Rest assured, the pencil stroke is almost imperceptible to keep the essentials. It takes the prestigious line, equipment and chassis of the respected 916. And apart from the name sticker, it is impossible to differentiate them. In more ways than one, the 748 has little to envy its big sister. Born for the track, it benefits from all the acastillage to gain maximum foothold on the circuit and make efficiency slam. It’s radical, just like the behavior and life on board. Forget the slightest notion of comfort, it is not made for that. A little tour of the city is a real ordeal: the clutch is tough to operate, especially as the wrists are already well massacred by the exclusive driving position – saddle “slice of bread” and very high, handlebars-bracelets closer of the wheel that of the pilot … The twin does not appreciate too much the ride and the low revs. It shines that dale.
