Quite a symbol! The line of SuperSport is an icon at Ducati, stronger for some than the dynasty of Superbikes. She does not forget to present one of the elements intimately attached to the Ducat ‘: a single-sided arm of the most beautiful effect, that a certain small Panigale has ousted. However, do not rush on the bombarde and the sliders. This SuperSport has not fully recovered the philosophy of the SS of yesteryear. This is evidenced by the half-handlebars located above the upper yoke, allowing moderate support for the bust on the front axle. Or the footrests set at reasonable height and the saddle height of 810 mm. And above all, the screen adjustable over 50 mm. It’s a fact: the SS has slowly slipped towards a more sport-GT atmosphere. Those who appreciate a sporty behavior on the open road without undergoing the discomfort and stiffness of a hypersport will be delighted with this orientation. Because the Ducati SuperSport intends to satisfy athletes on many roads. For some time now, sportswomen have only become truly exploitable and exhilarating on the circuit..
Not the SS, which again opens the roads to arson and (relative) comfort. If it presents well, it has not forgotten that the market is fond of new technologies. The old SS made you share the very essence of mechanics, the flirtation with the road, the passion for metal on edge, the demand for authoritarian driving. That time is over. The new generation SuperSport is equipped with electronics and many faces. On board are the Riding Modes (Sport, Touring and Urban, Bosch 9MP ABS, traction control, optional up & down shifter, a USB socket under the saddle and a very complete LCD instrumentation.
For the most demanding, an S version accompanies the 939 SS, with Ohlins suspensions, standard shifter and seat cowl. And around 1500 euros more.
The Ducati SS is back to us, and its decade-long history of oblivion has given it a new vision of the road. This 939 SuperSport seems to be the descendant of the loves of a 900 SS and an ST4. A competitor of choice for the VFR, and a motorcycle that will not fail to pique curiosity.
