Electric scooter Emax: 50 cents for 100 kilometers
  • Site Online Editor Martin Vogt

30 cents? For so little money, the electric scooter comes almost 100 kilometers away. The emission and crunch-free segment of this commuter vehicle boom.

Optically, he does not distinguish himself from other well-made scooters. The model 90s of the Bavarian manufacturer E-Max from Oberhaching near Munich like with a long bench, deep through, pretty disc brakes with steel flex brake lines and comparatively large 13-inch wheels. Only the rotation of the gas grip exposes the special thing on the 90s: almost silent – only a weakly grooming-sirrant noise can be heard from the back – accelerates the scooter. No wonder: His heart is not an angry small piston under the bench, but an electric motor. The rotated, bleeded by 48 volts, in the hub of the rear wheel.
Easy to drive
On the ride with the scooter, novices have also become accustomed. The deep center of gravity is trustworthy, the brakes are great dosable, which is almost silent for easy movement soon. 45 to 60 kilometers Range promises E-Max for the 40 amperest hours capable combination of four battery blocks a twelve volts that make the scooter heavy 151 kilograms. In urban driving practice it is more of a few kilometers less. Power-intensive start-up at the traffic light, soon to go back from the "gas" and the next red light destroy the pace by brake are anything but range-promoting. There is not a regenerative solution as in the hybrid car? Company boss Thomas Grubel waves off. "That would not be proportionate to the effort. More than two to three percent are not to be picked up."
High purchasing price, low operating costs
The operation of the scooter is also so competitive favorable. The discussion about the commuter flat rate with its 30 cents per kilometer brings the scooter driver at best for smile – E-max promises electricity costs from 30 to 50 cents, but not for one, but for 100 kilometers.
However, if you want to save, you must first reach deep into your pocket. 2995 Euro costs the cheapest variant. That’s a lot of money: Chinese 50s scooters from the hardware store are available for a few hundreds – but mostly without service, long-term spare parts supply and in dubious quality. Even the brand scooters of Piaggio & Co. are cheaper than the e-max.
About six euros, but that saves per 100 kilometers from his benzine-powered counterpart. Compared to the brand rollers, the buyer soon has his greater investment out, especially since the maintenance costs are lower. "Every day people read about high oil price and environmental impact," says Grubel a rather psychological argument for the electricity concept. "Maybe you have a good conscience with our product. In the minds of people something is happening."And there is a battle and stink-free straun right right now. The sales figures quickly, albeit on for the time being modest level, steep up. 1000 scooters of the new model wants to sell E-Max alone in the coming twelve months in Germany – a tripling, compared with the success of the old model.
Knatter roller for banned at some point?
This is – in addition to the immediate better environmental compatibility – also on some tangible advantages: In London, electric vehicles can park for free. Italy pays owners of older scooters a kind of scrapping premium of at least 700 euros, if an e-scooter is purchased at the same time. Anyone who drives emission-free is fine in Milan anyway – Stinker already have no access to the city center. The ever-rigid regulations of the EU is likely to prohibit the classic, smoking knatterballer at some point in fact. Grubel is looking forward to that.

  1. Still many obstacles
Great idea with the E scooters, but there are some obstacles. Where should one as … Locate tenants in a multi-family house ? And then the still small range. As long as this is not clarified, you will not be able to do without your stinking and kinking companion. Otherwise, the e-scooters are a good idea. I am already a danger and was enthusiastic.

  2. Download no problem?
I think Netpower means the problem that in tenables often no power outlet, which is also associated with the own electricity meter, exists within reach of the scooter. And simply infect in the house cord will certainly disturb one or the other co-tenant soon, unless one pays him his share of general flow costs.

    Still in need of improvement

  3. Collaburability of the predecessor model
For me, the battery (also silicon battery) of the older model (E-Max S) stopped only approx. 7000km. Now 1000 euros are due again!!! So a berth is still cheaper. Recently, there was something else from a 20.000km warranty for the battery on the website. Now nothing is to read anymore. Probably the batteries never hold for so long.

  4. Accuracy?
Interesting would also have been how long the battery stops and what an exchange (replacement battery) costs. This is probably not cheap. If you include these costs, the comparison to conventional gasoline scooters looks a bit different again.

  5. Class thing – without…
The ranges will be increased to more than 100 km in the spring of E-Max in the spring. Pollutant emissions is zero when eco flow is purchased or a small solar power plant charges the batteries. But even with the average mix, an electric motor is more and more environmentally friendly due to its high efficiency as its conventional counterpart.

  6. Great thing – but…
Of course, this scooter is more expensive because fewer stuff numbers are being built. In a few years this looks different. I can only hope that it is staked on environmentally friendly technologies and that Germany is far from the front. The term emmission can be enjoyed with caution. The electricity is produced somewhere!!

  7. There must be a reform of road traffic
With this to be rewarded in the future, fuel savings are rewarded and great feedstickers are punished. Denbar would only be such scooters and vehicles that can not be used to consume more than 3 liters in the inner cities. Finally with the SUV and Porsche shows in the inner cities. That does not feel disturbed at all the radical non-smokers if the exhaust gases are blown on the ice, surprises me.

  8. No, that really does not work!
30-50 cents per 100 km? When will the harsher-like state be thought about it? Downtown ban, so that the public transport does not lose its permission.

  9. nothing new
There was a long time the EVT scooter, which is even cheaper and has proven itself. But the scooter drivers want it to crack and stink…

  10. That’s really not new
Vectrix also offers an e-machine. That then drives 100 km / h. Costs but also just under 10.000 €. Would be hoped that the price falls significantly as soon as the things are produced in quantities. Incidentally, some cities in China take the billigronger mentioned by mepistopheles due to significant safety defects from the street.
