E-Schwalbe in the practical test

DDR droller comes again: the electric swallow in the test

The cult scooter from the former GDR rolls back on our streets, but not with two-stroke stink, but purely electrical: the E-Schwalbe wants to become a cult object. Unfortunately, the scooter also has tangible disadvantages.

5400 Euro demands the Govecs daughter Schwalbe for the new E-Schwalbe. As the name implies, it is a scooter in the look of the GDR two-wheeled icon Schwalbe. But unlike the historical two-stroke, the new edition ensures a quiet electric engine with 4 kW / 5.4 hp for propulsion. This should accelerate in five seconds to the top speed of 45 km / h. A larger dual battery for a surcharge makes 120 kilometers reach possible, and there is even a reverse gear. But many things on the retro scooter nerves too – about the weight. You will see our practical test in the video. An overview of the growing market of the E-Scooter can be found here.

  1. This ugly walker was after the turn
only so desirable because you were allowed to drive legal 60 km / h with it and not 45 km / h. Otherwise … Nothing about the part really interesting and attractive. Now for the electrical new edition as much money should be issued as for a 300 petrol engine. Great, then see if a buyer finds.

  2. The cult around the swallow is simply
on the final speed. With a real swallow you are not a traffic impregnation with under 50km / h, but the old swallow managed legally 60km / h. Therefore, you could have saved the copying of the design. An e-scooter in China costs no 1000euro and makes the same.

  3. 5400 Euro…
…. Will a total flop. Who gives a lot of money for such a thing, a real swallow has a 2-stroke internal combustion engine, there are still so many to buy. Memory of my youth.
