Number 156 wins: 100-hour endurance test KTM 350 EXC-F.

The KTM 350 EXC-F does not make the intended 100-hour long-term test distance as fast as originally planned. To date, the Austrian has 67 hours on the operating hours counter. The reason: Both MOTORRAD editor Peter Mayer and the also offroad-savvy workshop manager Gerry Wagner had to take a break for most of the year with knee injuries.

At least in this way the sport enduro was used more widely than hardcore use on motocross tracks. But that was exactly what caused the KTM to suffer its first injury. After a jump, the plastic engine guard hit the ground and tore off the quick release. Since the part was fixed with a screw, the problem has been resolved. The disadvantage: In order to remove the dirt that has accumulated between the floor pan and the motor, the protector has to be unscrewed instead of clicked off before the steam jet is a little more laborious. The speedometer sensor cable, which was wrapped in a plastic sleeve and kinked after only ten hours of operation, also took the path of everything earthly.

Enduro Baden-Baden: MOTORCYCLE off-road expert Didi Lacher took victory on the KTM long-term test.

Ten hours later. MOTORRAD off-road expert Didi Lacher uses the EXC-F at the four-hour ADAC Pirelli Enduro Cup in Baden-Baden – and wins the team championship. After -Lacher had switched off the engine after crossing the finish line, the KTM 350 EXC-F could no longer be brought to life. Another review at the German KTM headquarters. Lo and behold: After a relay that had been worn out by the frame (price: EUR 8.69) had been replaced, the 350 ran again. In this respect, it cannot be ruled out that the first failure of the mechanically damaged electronic part was also due to the fact that said replacement of the fuel pump would have been carried out anyway.

After Release‘s triumph in the dry sand, the endurance test enduro will again be confronted with the climatic depressions of off-road sports in the coming weeks. Next event: Nikolaus-Enduro Neunkirchen on December 8th.
