MV Agusta has been frighteningly quiet for the past two years. The Italians barely missed bankruptcy in spring 2016 and have been working intensively on a restructuring plan since then. This has now been implemented, and MV is back with reorganized finances and the brilliant Brutale 800 RR. Sure, the wonderfully beautiful three-cylinder has graced the model range for a long time, but now it’s finally available with Euro 4.

Four-cylinder comes in 2018, Cagiva is revived

The company itself has also undergone a major overhaul. The previous silent partner Mercedes-AMG has left, but now the Anglo-Russian Timur Sardarov, son of a Russian oil billionaire, holds 49 percent of MV. He and the majority owner Giovanni Castiglioni have concrete plans. you want to MV Agusta establish it as a noble and naturally expensive “super premium” brand.

Fans of the brand can therefore have justified hopes for brand new sports motorcycles. The first model with the long-awaited four-cylinder will be presented in 2018. In addition, the in-house brand Cagiva revived – with electric motorcycles that should be trendy and lively.

The new four-cylinder will probably not have any effects on the Superbike World Championship until 2020, because then the successor to the F4 will come. The Italian manufacturer is currently competing in the SBK World Championship with the MV Agusta F4 RR. The motorcycle used is currently based on the model introduced in 2005. This means that the F4 is currently still the oldest motorcycle in the starting field for the Superbike World Championship.

Message from 07/25/2017:

Mercedes-AMG has owned 25 percent of the motorcycle manufacturer MV Agusta since autumn 2014. This participation is now terminated. In a press release, MV Agusta announced that it would buy back the 25 percent stake previously held by the car manufacturer Mercedes AMG. The money for it, if any at all, comes from the Russian investor ComSar Invest.

In 2016, he announced his entry into the highly indebted Italian motorcycle manufacturer MV Agusta, but at the time left it open what should become of the AMG shares.

At the request of MOTORRAD, Mercedes AMG has now confirmed its withdrawal from its stake in MV Agusta: As part of the rescheduling plan for MV, they wanted to “clear the way for the planned entry of a new investor and give up his minority stake”. A spokeswoman for Mercedes AMG said that the modalities of returning this minority stake are still being negotiated.
