Softail, CVO & Anniversary models

Content of

Harley-Davidson has presented some new models for the coming year. The Softail and CVO series will receive numerous updates for 2018, while Harley will be discontinuing one series completely.

Somewhat surprisingly, Harley-Davidson has discontinued the Dyna series for the coming model year. The former Dyna models Street Bob, Fat Bob and L.ow Rider will be part of the Softail range from 2018. Harley-Davidson justified the decision with the fact that the frame of the Softail series offers more advantages. The previous Softail models also benefit from the newly developed Softail frame, which, according to Harley-Davidson, should enable a weight reduction of up to 17 kilograms. The new frame is offered with two different swing arms, which results in different options for the wheels and suspension elements. The fork was taken over from the Touring series.

Harley has also made some improvements to the engine of the Softail series: The new Milwaukee Eight engine will replace the previously used Harley twin-cam engine from 2018. The new Milwaukee Eight engine will be available in two versions in the Softail series: the 107 version with 1745 cm³ and the 114 version with 1868 cm³.

Harley is also giving all new models of the Softail series an LED daytime running light, improvements in electronics and new instruments. Also new: a keyless ignition system and USB connections on the handlebar. Below is an overview of the new and updated models in the Softail range.
