Heir to the XR 750 from dirt-track races, the XR 1200 forgets its racing colors in this X version to get closer to the Milwaukee Dark series. An X that wants to be darker and above all more sporty, like a shadow warrior. At first glance, we can only see a very large brushstroke of black paint, except on the engine fins.. Getting closer to the technical detail, we can see that this new XR 1200 is equipped with more rigorous Showa suspension elements: the inverted fork is fully adjustable and the 2 shocks are of the ‘Piggyback’ type. A stronger Nissin braking, equipped with 292 mm discs, completes the endowment.
If it is not the biggest of the Harley range, the twin 1200 is surely one of the most edgy of the manufacturer. To give the necessary ardor to the XR, the twin benefits from new cylinder heads, optimized cooling, improved breathing, a nastier camshaft, a compression ratio revised upwards, and no does not deprive the crankshaft of the Buell XB-12 from pitting. With all that, the output jumps almost 26%: when a Sportster 1200 is satisfied with 72 horsepower, the XR sends no less than 91. Almost nasty..
So unleashed in the streets, the XR 1200 X claims to be one of the most predatory Harley-Davidson – or as the definition of Streetfighter by deep America.
