After being slightly refreshed in 2013, the Street Bob finally wins the big twin 103 ci in 2014. The little evo from last year – a few additional touches of black; on the triple trees, the engine, the fork sleeves and the battery compartment, a saw cut on the rear fender, a revised LED light as well as a mounting of the handlebars reducing vibrations – is judiciously completed by good torque boost with the 1690.
Keep the essentials and remove the superfluous to selfishly enjoy the Twin Cam, here is the avowed goal of the Street Bob. In the 1950s, Harley riders kept only the bare minimum on their machines and raced with their hair in the wind. The FXDB is inspired by this “Bobber” trend, with an “Ape Hanger” handlebar, a very low solo seat (the passenger is excluded, his saddle and footrests having disappeared), indicators placed under the controls, wire wheels in a wraparound rear fender.
Like all Dyna since 2006, the Twin Cam housed in a new frame. The clutch is softer and the fork goes to 49mm in diameter. The pleasure has been greatly increased since 2007 with the introduction of the 1584 cc. Better filled, more generous, more torquey, the 96 quickly made forget the old 88. The pleasure will be even more tasty with now the 103 and its 13 mkg.
With its tall, high handlebars and a respectable build, the Street Bob does not seem the easiest to ride. Oh surprise, the reverse awaits the driver. The machine is easy to carry around and allows you to have fun to the limit of its angle grip. It rubs fast, and braking, without being catastrophic, is sufficient. Rebel to the end of chrome, the Street Bob is the entry-level machine to the Dyna family, with a price of € 14,390. To announce such a price, Harley has not weighed down much in equipment. This was, moreover, the desired goal. In addition to this very stripped-down identity, the Street Bob has another advantage: an excellent basis for customizing this Dyna as desired..
The Street Bob is still available with the 96 engine, which takes away a little horse, some suspicion of mkg and a wad of euros on the invoice.
