Now also universally wearable under any jacket

So far, the eVest Clip-In from Held could only be combined with existing Held jackets. A new variant can now be worn separately as a vest under any jacket.

Held has equipped the eVest airbag vest with a front zip so that it can now be worn as an independent item of clothing under any motorcycle jacket and used as an additional safety feature. Of course, the new vest is also equipped with the tried and tested clip-in system and can thus be combined with suitably equipped Held jackets. The new version of the airbag vest will be available from specialist retailers in addition to the existing range from September.

Airy design, electronically triggered

Technically, the new vest does not differ from the previous one. That from partner In&motion developed airbag system relies on electronic triggering. There is therefore no mechanical connection to the motorcycle. The complete hardware and software is already included in the garment.

The airbag vest consists of a light and elastic sensitive mesh outer material. Side mesh inserts and a 3D air mesh lining on the back ensure breathability. A back protector made of visco-elastic soft foam is included as standard in the vest, chest and rib protectors can be retrofitted if necessary.

The gas cartridge for inflating the airbag is integrated in the back protector. The control module is installed in the hard shell element on the back of the vest. An algorithm works in it that uses built-in sensors to determine the acceleration and position of the biker 1,000 times per second and, in the event of an accident, triggers the airbag in fractions of a second. The release system is capable of learning, but requires the data to be released by the owner. Updates can – even without your own data release – be imported via software update.

Buy or lease

As before, the control module is only ready for use for 48 hours after initial start-up. For long-term functionality, a type of membership with In&motion to be completed. There is a purchase option and a leasing option to choose from. The purchase option costs 399.95 euros, the leasing variant is offered for 12 euros a month or 120 euros a year. An additional race track mode can be booked for 8 euros a month or 25 euros a year with both options.

The vest itself costs 349.95 euros and is available in sizes from S to 3XL.
