When the phone replaces the key on Givi Keyless 2.0 top cases !
The Italian manufacturer Givi is launching a clever device to control the locking and unlocking of its top case from its smartphone. Presentation of Keyless 2.0.
Is the key an endangered species on motorcycles and scooters ? Probable: while keyless starting systems are becoming more popular (especially at BMW, Ducati, Harley-Davidson, Honda, Kawasaki and Yamaha), Givi is launching its "Keyless 2.0" device to control the opening and closing of its top case … from his cell phone !

The principle is simple: after downloading the dedicated application on iOS or Android, the unlocking of the top case lock is activated with a simple press on the screen, visual confirmation with the key. The reverse operation allows the top box to be re-locked, all via a mechanism powered by two batteries..
No more stress blows because of a lost key or one that doesn’t work with the lock because it is a little bent and / or oxidized! The opening and closing of the top case lock can be done remotely within the range of the Bluetooth connection: practical insofar as this eliminates the need to retrace your steps in case of doubt to check if is suitably closed !
Another tip that "smacks of experience": the Shake mode function, which allows you to control the lock just by shaking your phone. The interest is obvious for bikers and scooter riders: no need to remove your gloves to press the touch control on the screen! Well done, especially for short trips with several stops.
The specialist in transalpine luggage also reassures the most anxious: top cases equipped with "Keyless 2.0" (list above) can be opened mechanically with a "good old key", in particular to compensate for the loss or theft of his phone or a stupid battery failure of said smartphone. Phew !
