Honda 750 Shadow S 2011

Stuck for ages in its custom philosophy, the 750 Shadow becomes more urban and more impactful in this new RS version. More European, the Shadow RS nevertheless draws part of its inspiration from a well-known machine. Indeed, the first impression we have on discovering this custom roadster type is a connection with the Harley Sportster. Almost halfway between the 883 and the Iron, this Honda is discreet and compact. Its less inclined fork (3 °) has a lot to do with this impression of compactness. The chrome hides without fading, the engine slips away, accessibility is emphasized.

With repositioned controls and saddle (87 mm higher), the riding position is more natural, more suited to urban use. The engine remains the conventional and eternal twin in V of 745 cm3. It develops modest power, most of the available potato having been refocused towards low and medium revs. Certainly, the machine will respond a little better to demands in town. But when it comes to feeling, it’s not with 43 horses that you’re going to get cold feet. Additional work on the injection can quench the thirst for the small twin (for a custom), which is good because the tank is smaller. He loses 4 liters and shouts stop at 10.7 liters. Small regrets: the presence of a chain (we would have preferred a gimbal or a belt, much cleaner), a poorly integrated headlight-plate-turn signal assembly and an antique drum brake.

Less powerful than the standard custom Shadow, the RS announces a 19 “front wheel and a reduced wheelbase, which should make it more agile and more playful, while benefiting from lower fuel consumption and an attractive price. less than 7,000 euros, it sits just above the entry-level ER-6n, CBF 600 or XJ6 style roadsters, and well below its designated rivals Triumph Bonneville and Harley 883. But the Shadow does not. does not have the reputation of these two stars.
