Honda sold the gyro models quite successfully, especially in Japan. There was also a street version in the US called the Gyro S. One of those quirky pieces is for sale.

In the popular section: “There really was such a thing” today a Honda Gyro S from 1986. The technical template is a failed project by BSA from the 1960s. The three-wheeled scooter with an inclined position was purchased under the Honda patent and primarily used as a load scooter – and successfully. Towards the end of the construction period in the mid-1980s, there were still street-only versions. One of these Honda Gyro S is for sale at Iconic Motorbikes Auctions. Currently for $ 1,000.

Honda Gyro S.

Honda’s gyro models were powered by a small 49 cubic two-stroke engine. 4 hp should be enough for 50 km / h. For the smallest turning circle, the single-lane front is inclined, mechanically limited to 40 degrees. So that the rear does not oversteer, the drive is even equipped with a differential. The auctioned model is a Gyro S from 1986 – the last series – and according to the speedometer has only 816 miles on the speedometer. Unfortunately, the rest of the state is far from virginity and falls under “For lovers.” The original look is the 8-inch rear and 10-inch front tires. Incidentally, the weight is only 100 kilograms.

First, second and …! Who would buy a motorcycle at a real auction??

I don’t do anything else.

A little thrill would be great.

Conclusion

Honda has not even sold that few gyros over the years. The S version for the US roads ended up being rather rare, if the current price of $ 1,000 doesn’t currently reflect that. On the other hand: a proud course for a 35 year old 50cc scooter. Logic sticks out bizarre – always.
