Honda S-Wing 125 test
Small S-Class
Luxury has also found its way into the 125cc scooter class. At Honda, the Pantheon has been successful on this track in recent years. Now he’s in the new S.-Wing 125 found a worthy successor. The voluminous cladding front with the double headlights that are pulled far down, which generate exemplary bright light, offers considerable wind and weather protection. The high windshield, behind which magnificent instruments are presented like in a car, hardly creates any disturbing turbulence. The interior cladding looks noble, no impression of cheap plastic. The knee room is generous.
Tea driver finds a comfortable spot on the well-padded bench. A passenger can also make himself quite comfortable thanks to the fold-out footrests. Behind it there is even space for a large luggage rack that could hold a 35 liter top case (128 euros at Honda).
But you don’t need the additional storage space at first. Because under the bench there is a generously sized, illuminated storage compartment that can store a lot more utensils in addition to a full-face helmet. Only the non-lockable glove compartment is modestly small.
Modern engine technology is hidden under the elegant shell of the S-Wing. The water-cooled four-stroke single-cylinder with electronic injection and regulated catalytic converter has an output of 14 hp, which is quiet, cultivated and brightly presented. In city traffic, the variator keeps the speed between 7000 and 8000 rpm and drives the 162-kilogram scooter forward quickly. It quickly reaches its top speed of 105 km / h, so trucks can be overtaken quickly. The single consumes just three liters on average. This means that with a 9.4 liter tank, a range of around 300 kilometers is possible. Lush for a 125cc scooter.
The S-Wing is equipped with an easily adjustable, effective composite brake. And for an additional charge of 500 euros with finely regulating ABS. The spring elements are designed to be comfortable, but they can still take a lot. The S-Wing 125 easily steers, follows all curve radii with precision and neutrality and is extremely stable even on poor roads.
With a side stand and on-board computer, the well-equipped, 3840 euro S-Wing is not only cheaper than its direct competitors Peugeot Satelis (3959 euro) and Piaggio X8 (3999 euro), but also costs 40 euro less than its predecessor Pantheon. nk
