Honda CB 600 F HORNET 2014

2014 is the last year of the 600 Hornet in the Honda catalog … for the few models that remain in stock. The ball of nerves will gradually disappear in favor of the new CB 650 F. Too bad, because even hadicapee in displacement against the “800”, the motorcycle remains an exhilarating and efficient toy..

It took time for the Hornet to find, adopt, integrate its true face; or rather, a facies whose identity really matches the nickname Honda gave it. It’s undeniable, it’s stylish, it’s insectivorous, and it’s obvious. Even those who don’t know anything about bikes express their first impression on seeing the CB 600 F 2011/2014: “this bike looks like a hornet!” And what does Hornet mean in English, mmmmm….. ?

However, the original idea of the Hornet 2011-2014 was to reshape its face to better approximate that of the big brother CB 1000 R. It is true that the inspiration is undeniable as much as it is subtle, but the designer left his pencil slightly derived so that the fork head adopts a more obvious design. It only needs mandibles to eat the imprudent raw.
As long as the CB 1000 R doesn’t say anything, we’re going to steal some styling ideas from it. So be it, and the dashboard is evolving in this spirit, seeing itself completely redesigned, with an endowment now entirely digital. Very controversial when it was released, the rear part becomes much more incisive, its sting ending with a rear light now with diodes..

Redesigned by Boxer Design, Wakisashi version, R version, adoption of an inverted fork in 2005, 2007 CBR 600 engine during its big evolution the same year, Honda’s favorite roadster has evolved a lot since its birth in 1998. And yet , it remains surprisingly faithful to its original technical principle: a sporty 600 engine largely enhanced thanks to a backbone type monobackbone frame with Diamond architecture. Let’s put it mildly: the elements chosen have changed quite a bit, especially in 2007. That’s when the frame swapped steel for aluminum. The inverted fork was already there since 2005. Faithful to the 4 cylinders of the CBR, the CB 600 F surprises everyone by this choice. Indeed, scalded by the success of the Z 750, all Japanese mid-capacity roadsters moved up to the next cubic level. The Hornet is the only Japanese to display 600 cm3 without complex. This engine does not demerit, on the contrary. Lively and loving to take turns, this boiler gives all the proper pep to this mid-size streetfighter. But opposite, it’s more torque in the Yamaha FZ8, Kawasaki Z 800 and Suzuki 750 GSR.

Under the dress more CB-1000-Risee, the Hornet renews its confidence in its sure and proven values. Namely a 102 horsepower engine block held by the discreet aluminum frame, two brake discs of 296 mm which can be assisted by the combined ABS, an inverted fork of 41 mm but no radial brake calipers. A list of options allows you a certain level of customization. The main thing is more in the ease and the premium comfort of the Hornet.
