At Honda, the big roadster can be chosen according to two philosophies: sport & bad boy with the CB 1000 R, road & comfort with the CBF 1000. If both are powered by CBR mechanics, the CBF offers more versatility and more discretion. Perhaps he was criticized for a certain lack of personality. The winged manufacturer takes advantage of the redesign of the CBF 1000 in 2010 to give it more sex appeal.
The change is not radical, and we will talk more of a (big) evolution than a new machine. The only sight of the fork crown is enough however to change the dynamism of the CBF, its eyes of CBR 600 RR and the gills under the edge of the eyes immediately give a more seductive face. We would easily find a similarity with the facies of the CBR 1000 RR 1st of the name.
Behind its generously dimensioned half-fairing, we immediately feel that the new CBF 1000 has planned to increase the level of versatility and adaptation.We find the adjustable handlebars and saddle (improved material, narrower front part) (780 – 795 – 810 mm), a screen which can be positioned in 4 positions (2 previously) on a travel of 120 mm. On the engine side, this is still the cooler block of the hypersport 1000 CBR – efficiency has been improved by 7%, thanks, among other things, to an increased compression ratio and a new exhaust system. This ends with a single pot, compared to two in the previous vintage. The CBF is gaining a few horsepower, and its 5kg drop in weight should promote more velocity. Ah, a little styling detail: look at the exhaust pipes, now slightly twisted in the lower part.
Always faithful to its wise technical choices (no need for Superbike gear on a roadster of this type), the CBF 2010 retains a very classic swing arm, a 41 mm diameter fork (with revised settings), triple braking discs completed by combined ABS (standard), and its mono-backbone type frame…. Except that it evolves in the choice of its material. In steel on the previous CBF, this single-beam frame is now in aluminum. The longer 2010 CBF promotes increased stability by increasing its wheelbase by 15mm.
The rear section is also energized with the addition of a CBR 1000 style taillight. Up front, new elongated indicators go hand in hand with the roadster’s long shoulders. On board, the instrumentation has been completely modified, 2 digital screens surrounding the tachometer. This table obviously draws its inspiration from that of the VFR and fire CBR 1100 XX.
As much as the new CBR 1000 RR 2010 had not aroused enthusiasm in view of these modifications (vilo changed, period), the new CBF 1000 does not disappoint when it comes to all of its evolution. The options offered are even more numerous and allow you to refine a real GT, with several luggage kits, heated grips, and alarm. Something to worry about the FZ1 Fazer and other 1250 Bandit S.
