Honda CBR 1000 RR Fireblade 2014

The Honda CBR 1000 knows how to play on its reputation. She might not win all the comparos or all the championships, but with ambassadors like Michael Dunlop or John MCGuinness, decent sales numbers (for her category), the winged crest on the tank and a name that resonates in the world. motorcycle sport history, Honda’s hypersport still stands proudly on its wheels.

Small update for 2014, mainly focused on the engine. The 4 cylinders are touched up here and there, just to pick up horse crumbs. The CBR had been eyeing the 180 nags for some time, and the engine manufacturers offered it this bar. How? ‘Or’ What ?
Especially when working on the cylinder head. Redesigned intake ducts and valve seats, reduced exhaust manifolds from 38 to 35mm. A little lower, the volume of the catalyst increased; a little higher, remapped PGM-DSFI injection. Suddenly, the block develops 2 Kw more and a significant increase in torque, especially between 4 and 6000 trs.

The chassis remains the same, with a beefy aluminum perimeter frame, an inverted 43mm Showa BPF fork, a MotoGP-inspired Pro-Link rear suspension with a very stable and progressive Balance Free Rear Cushion. Only the pilot’s position is changed. More radical in fact, with footrests set back by 10mm and more open half-handlebars.

Complete dashboard with multiple displays, new ignition key in “wave” format, undeniable sporting qualities, the CBR 1000 RR can always count on a certain and assertive quality of life; and on its optional sport ABS. Unfortunately, this still leads to an overweight of 11 kilos. And on the competition side … no comment.
Will this be enough to maintain the CBR’s capital of passion? Enough for a while and wait for the relief. Good, very good sports car, the CBR 1000 RR knows how to make the powder speak but not unleash it like more and more competitors.
