The Belgian roadside assistance giant, Touring, has just carried out a study according to which 69% of road users think that motorized two-wheelers are a good alternative to a car.

"More and more commuters (commuters in" French ", Editor’s note!) Are using a motorized two-wheeler to get around", notes Touring, stressing that "this is a good thing, because one more two-wheeler in the traffic is one less car in the queues ".

The giant of breakdown assistance in Belgium carried out a survey of 5,785 people (members and non-members, bikers and non-bikers) showing that "69% of them believe that two-wheelers are a good alternative for the home-work trip because it’s faster ". 60% of respondents also think that a rule should allow motorcyclists to go up the lines, and 56% believe that they could also use the lanes reserved for buses.

Bikers are courteous, they drive fast but are not reckless

  • 69% consider the bikers "courteous"
  • 58% are for continuous biker training, but the bikers themselves are only 30% wanting it

Touring, which "is keen to encourage the use of motorized two-wheelers," says that it is necessary "to take as many measures as necessary to strengthen the attractiveness of the motorized two-wheeler and thus promote its use" and therefore supports " totally the principle of going up the lines and the use of the bus bands ".  

  • 53% of those questioned positively consider the favorable tax treatment accorded to motorized two-wheelers for business trips between home and work (82% among bikers), while 26% think that we do not go far enough in the matter
  • In terms of regulations (re-queuing for example), half believe that this meets expectations and 9% consider that it is insufficient
  • 62% of respondents believe that employers are not doing enough for two-wheeler users (90% among motorized two-wheelers). This can range from the provision of changing rooms, showers or a shelter, to a bonus promoting the use of a two-wheeler..
  • 66% believe that there are too few parking spaces on public roads to park their motorbike or scooter
  • 56% are in favor of using the bus lanes (82% for bikers) and 60% for going back up (92% for bikers)
