Hello women, you have to be very brave now. Because here the Hollywood star reveals that he loves motorcycles and beer just as much – at least.

? In your private life you are considered a passionate motorcyclist. How did it come about and when was it?
! When I was 15. I worked in the tobacco fields in the middle of August until I was barely able to stand straight because of lower back pain to earn a little pocket money. I hoped to be able to afford a Harley soon, in cream and turquoise, with a chubby tank. But with the money I ultimately put aside, I could hardly have paid for the chrome polish (laughs his Clooney laugh). Well, one day the sound of a motorcycle stuck in my ear. There was a guy who was in charge of one of the plantations. He owned a Moto Guzzi V7 Sport. That was an amazing part. I remember the V2 and the integral braking system. I almost started drooling in front of this bike. You just have to acknowledge that the Italians have a great talent for building beautiful machines.
? Do you remember your first own bike?
! Yep I had just shot a commercial for Panasonic and then moved on to a kind of police series called “Riptide”. In it I played a bad guy who held three girls hostage. I didn’t have an agent then. In order to make people believe I was a professional anyway, I always put myself through as George Clooney’s agent on phone calls. Once I actually got a casting appointment and drove there with an old, crackling and smelly Mobylette from my aunt, who I lived with – the late singer Rosemary Clooney. I parked outside the studios. Far outside. Very far. The moped made a hell of a racket. Worse, it left oil stains on parking. I was very ashamed.
? Motorcycles and George Clooney, isn’t that a love story too?
! Yes. To date, the longest I’ve had. They rarely let me down (laughs).
? If we’re not mistaken, you once shot a commercial for a motorcycle brand?
! No. That was for Fiat. The cars. You can see me on a hike on the shores of Lake Como. Suddenly I faint in front of an admirable, orange-red sleigh. I push myself inside, lower the seat. About to take a little nap. Until a charming Italian woman realizes that I’ve spread out in her car. She takes out the remote control for her central locking and locks me in her Fiat. It ends wonderfully because the girl gets behind the wheel and runs away with me, quite satisfied. The slogan: “Fiat Idea, George not included.” I wasn’t on the equipment list. We did the shoot a few steps away from my second home in Italy (in Laglio, ed.).
? As an actor, you are one of the world’s stars. How does that fit in with the rather shirt-sleeved passion for motorcycles?
! The word star is pretty worn out today, I think. Marlon Brando, Paul Newman, Cary Grant and Steve McQueen were stars. Daniel Day-Lewis and Dustin Hoffman are also stars. Tom Cruise is a star in his field. By the way, do you know the difference between Cruise and Clooney? If I burn the clutch of one of my Indians, I push like an ox to bring them back home. Tom, on the other hand, calls his private jet.

? Before you made it big, you were pretty broke and had to sleep with a motorcycle buddy. Is that correct?
! That’s correct. I even slept on the toilet because he only had a one-room apartment. What I appreciate about my motorcycle buddies is their openness, their brotherhood. If there’s something to be said, don’t leave the bushes open. With regard to “Batman”, for example, they did not hide from me that they found my acting very pathetic and that the bat’s latex panties made them think of a similar item that one of the “Village People” wore back then.
? In concrete terms, what has the success brought you?
! Lots of Harleys and Indians in my garage. A certain financial foundation and the opportunity to make my dreams come true. If I had already been known at the age of 20, I would probably have trashed hotel rooms to express my Weltschmerz. I escaped that – and so did the hotels. But there is a downside to success: if I have to have an inspection done, I can’t go to the dealer without seeing groupies press me.
? Put on a balaclava …
! That would be conceivable in Alaska. It’s more difficult in Southern California. Among other things because with a guy who wears a balaclava at 40 degrees in the shade, everyone here believes that he wants to rob the cash register. Okay, I could leave the helmet on, but I don’t wear full-face helmets.
? You have been seen riding quite a few motorcycles over the years. And often very good-looking women sat on the back. Is a motorcycle still a good way to seduce women??
! Hitting with a Harley no longer works. Maybe because today more and more women ride bikes like this themselves. I even met some who could talk about the stroke of the engine or spend hours drinking Budweiser in the carburetor. The era of the mackerel who made girls dream behind the handlebars of a fat motorcycle is over. In short, the best advice I can give you is to just give women the opportunity to come up to you. You know, you can move heaven and earth, spend a fortune on various gifts or fancy restaurants, play the Cyrano de Bergerac for the poor under your window for hours, but in the end it’s the woman who chooses you.
? Get away from your motorcycle. In “The American” you play a paid killer who drives a boring Fiat Chroma in Italy. Apparently they are not afraid of breaking the George myth with a completely normal car. What do you actually drive privately??
! In Los Angeles, besides my motorcycles, I own a Tesla. This is an electric car that, in addition to being very economical and fast, makes no noise at all. The ideal sled to pull up quietly behind the paparazzi and give them a little scare by honking their horns. Before the Tesla, I had a Tango (ultra-compact but fast electric small car, ed.), And I also own a Lexus Hybrid. Traffic is so heavy in Los Angeles that I prefer to ride my motorcycle. I’ve tried riding electric motorcycles but the problem is people can’t hear you. With a Harley, the question does not arise. They even make room for you before they see you in their rear-view mirrors.

? You mentioned earlier that you have a house on Lake Como. Why did you choose Italy as your adopted home?
! Because of the quality of his wines – I am a “professional drinker” – and because of the prosciutto that melts in the mouth. Also, I’ve always been a big fan of European culture. Especially the architecture. In the United States, a 20-year-old building is being demolished because they no longer want to keep the old one. In Italy, on the other hand, you can find buildings that are more than 2000 years old and they are revered. Incidentally, I encourage my compatriots to travel outside of the United States more often, preferably to a country where you can eat something other than cheeseburgers. I also urge them not to wear socks in their sports sandals or to wear floral shorts or T-shirts with beer stamps printed on them.
? How does George Clooney’s day in the land of pasta look like??
! I sleep the first week. Recharge the batteries. And when I’ve recovered well, I take a boat and go on a giant tour to the largest restaurants on the shore of the lake. And that’s where I hit really hard. Then I go for a lap around the lake. The curves are tight, the roads are often narrow, but damn it, how beautiful it is.
? You can also go on a bike tour with your friends?
! Yep Brad Pitt is one of my accomplices. It’s not quite like that with Matt Damon. He prefers to sit on the back and take photos.
? How do you explain that Brad (47) looks a lot younger than you on the motorcycle?
! I don’t explain it to myself at all. Is it my laugh lines, my wrinkled skin, my gray temples or my bad breath that make me appear older than the others? I ignore that. Maybe I could freshen up my skin with a cucumber mask? I don’t know, should try it out. It is also said that beer baths are very effective at rejuvenating old skin. If I had a choice I would prefer Budweiser. And then drink the tub …
? It is said that you play a major role in the political life of your country. One day aspire to be President in the White House?
! How could you choose a guy who has a reputation as a bon vivant, who owned a pig and rides a motorcycle? In addition, I once took hallucinogenic mushrooms and actually inhaled them with joints. Plus, I’m too seriously addicted to beer to move into the Oval Office. No, no, the risk that my past as a connoisseur will catch up with me one day is really too great for me. Also, I’m not sure the White House would like its president to get around on an armored motorcycle.
