Site readers – who, as everyone knows, are a little more fortunate than the others – have already been able to follow the unfolding of the World Supersport 2019 race almost live on Sunday at the Enzo e Dino Ferrari circuit in Imola. For latecomers:
Below are the statements of the drivers who animated the Supersport race on Sunday. Honor to the winner !
Randy Krummenacher (Yamaha n ° 21), 1st
“It was a good weekend. After the crash on Friday, the team and I worked really hard. The team gave me a perfect bike which allowed me to take pole position. It was difficult because Federico Caricasulo was very strong, I decided to let him pass by planning a counterattack in the last moments. My strategy paid off and I managed to pass him in the very last loop to win. I’m really happy with the race and my season, but we still have seven races to go and so we have to stay focused, keep working to improve even more. I want to thank my team, my family and everyone who is came to support me here in Italy this weekend ".
Federico Caricasulo (Yamaha n ° 64), 2nd
"In the last lap my engine cut twice. The first time in the Alta Variant and the second between Rivazza and the Bassa Variant. Because of this, I couldn’t resist against Randy and I had to settle for second place. My techs are working on my bike to figure out what happened. Without this problem I think Randy would have had a hard time passing me because I was riding hard, there probably wouldn’t be had only one place he could have attacked me. But it turned out differently and there is nothing I can do about it. We regret missing out on another win again on the last lap, but luckily nothing went wrong. is played and we will continue to work hard to return to the championship. Thank you to my team who supported me to the maximum ".
Rafaelle de Rosa (MV Agusta n ° 3), 3rd
"I am obviously delighted with my podium, even if we were a little lucky. It was not the case in Assen! In the race, I managed to close the gap on the leaders after two or three laps, then I saw the crash and I realized I was on the podium. Around the 10th lap, I tried to attack again but my rear tire was flushed, so I preferred to secure third place ".
Jules Cluzel (Yamaha n ° 16), 7th
"It’s a real shame because once again we were able to finish at least on the podium and fight for the victory. Unfortunately, the stroke of luck decided otherwise. We were still able to score points, but it is now important to get back on the podium as quickly as possible ".
Lucas Mahias (Kawasaki n ° 44), 8th
“My race was not looking so bad, but the final result still doesn’t reflect my real level. I think if I hadn’t had this problem in the chicane, I would have finished on the podium. It was my goal. I’m really angry because Cluzel missed a speed. Well, we still made good progress today, we were close to the podium because race after race, the settings of the bike are improving ".
Jules Danilo (Honda n ° 95), 11th
“This weekend has been very difficult, I expected it to be difficult, but not that much. I never really managed to get to grips with the track. I did my best in the race. to catch up with Peter’s group (Sebestyen, his teammate, editor’s note), but I couldn’t really go faster than the 1 ’53 low and the 1′ 52 high. The weekend was worse than us. we did in the race, so we will take the points from 11th place but now we have to take a big step forward in Jerez because I don’t like my progression curve at the moment "
Corentin Perolari (Yamaha n ° 94), package
Remi Guyot, GMT94 (Friday evening)
"Corentin is fine. I am still with him at Imola hospital. He took a long time to recover because the shock was also violent on the head. He will be able to thank his manufacturer of the helmet and the airbag. of his wetsuit which really protected him. His collarbone is quite broken, but the time of convalescence will soon begin and this mishap will soon be just a bad memory ".
