Kawasaki brings Meguro back

New old name for W800 version

The Japanese motorcycle manufacturer Kawasaki had the model name Meguro protected for various markets in February 2019. Now the first new Meguro model is coming onto the market in Japan.

Meguro and Kawasaki is not a new connection. Meguro was founded as an independent motorcycle manufacturer in Japan in 1937 and was fully integrated into the Kawasaki Group in the 1960s after a long cooperation. Meguro is thus the motorcycle nucleus of the Japanese. The cooperation also resulted in the first models of the Kawasaki W series, which the Japanese revived in 1999 with the W650.

The Meguro K3 is technically identical to its sister models. The differentiation takes place via small design changes. The K3 has a redesigned seat, new mirrors, wider handlebars and a partially chrome-plated tank with the Meguro emblem. The new Meguro K3 is currently only available in black and is only available in Japan. Their price is the equivalent of around 10,000 euros. It is currently not known whether the Meguro will also find its way to other markets. That would be conceivable because the patent was filed internationally. It is also conceivable that Meguro will become an entire model family.

Conclusion

Kawasaki returns to its motorcycle roots and revives the Meguro brand. However, the K3 is not a completely new model. It comes as a special version of the W800.
