Tole Motorworks is based on a Kawasaki W175. The model has only been around since 2017, so it counts more as a modern motorcycle.

The already classic look à la Kawasaki Estrella is not enough for Fedrian von Tole: it should be a rigid frame.

To do this, he cuts off a good 80 percent of all parts and uses tubes to build the unsprung frame.

Kawasaki W 175 conversion by Tole Motorworks
Indonesian custom gold

Many customizers create masterpieces on the Indonesian island of Jawa. Tole Motorworks is one of those customizers whose conversion based on a Kawasaki W 175 is presented here.

Looking at the rising sun and looking east in the morning can be painful. When it comes to custom bikes, looking to the distant Jawa and thus to the east can bring tears of joy to your eyes. Tole Motorworks has one there Kawasaki W175 optionally converted into a rigid-frame chopper in Brit-style or an old trial bike of the top league. Singular? Correctly. Tole Motorworks is a one-man operation run by Febrian, who is just 25 years old. Tole means boy in Indonesian and goes back to Febrian’s apprenticeship as a mechanic.

Single in a rigid frame

The Kawasaki W175 is not an old motorcycle. It has been built since 2017 and, with its 13 carburettor horsepower from 175 cubic meters, is mainly sold in Indonesia. Febrian removes a good 80 percent of the entire motorcycle in order to slowly rebuild it. First he builds a new rear frame, rigidly guided, past which he guides the half-height exhaust system. But the original drum brake is also on this side – disruptive for the line. So Febrian plans to twist the original hub and screw it into the new frame. The drum brake is on the left in the direction of travel, which requires a significantly different brake mechanism for the foot brake pedal. During this time, the front and rear hubs are spoked onto modified rims. A 21-inch wheel rotates at the front, while a 19-inch rim rotates at the rear. Each covered with old-school rubbers in Firestone optics of unknown origin. Just as old-school and chopper-esque: only the airstream and the rolling resistance of the tires slow down at the front.

The gold rolls on the road

Any color. The main thing is gold. Client Omar describes the desired paint design for his Cahaya IIahi, which is in Indonesian, or something like that “Divine light” means. The specialists from Bronx Kustompant should take over the paint job. In order for them to have something to paint, Febrian first has to skillfully swing the hammer and wield the welding flame: the young customizer shapes the peanut tank and the bench with fender himself and skilfully hides the electrical system under the narrow bench. The rest of the metal parts are either brushed or polished.

Conclusion

Now a Kickstarter and the W175 from Tole would paint the 1960s on your forehead with a marker. But the motorcycle is only a few years old. Likewise the customizer from Jawa: 25 years and already such skills. It’s going to be a feast to keep an eye on Tole Motorworks.
