The KX’s specifications haven’t changed since the brand’s launch over 40 years ago: leading intermediate to expert level drivers to victory. The KX 250 F has perhaps one of the best achievements in the very competitive 2 and a half 4 stroke category, with two championship wins in 2011, and one in the 250 MX championship in 2012.. In addition to its renowned performance in terms of engine and chassis, a number of advanced technologies, “firsts” and tweaks for 2015, including new ergonomic settings, make this new model KX 250 F formidable..
The 2015 KX 250 F introduces new injectors that allow finer atomization to increase power at low and mid revs and to provide more precise throttle response. It is also equipped with a lighter and more resistant “bridge-box” type piston. The fork with separate functions (SFF type 2) which equipped the KX 250 F 2014 now has new settings which allow to adjust the preload, to have better grip of the front wheel and to operate smoothly..
A new oversized petal brake disc improves braking power. This is further improved with a front link brake master cylinder and high friction brake pads. All of this allows for powerful braking that can be perfectly controlled, especially at the start of the deceleration phase. The numerous ergonomic adjustments offered by the KX 250 F allow each pilot to adapt his machine to his style and morphology. The KX 250 F retains its typical competition characteristics such as the “Launch Control” mode, easy access to three “plug and play” engine maps to adapt to all driving conditions as well as the possibility of adding optional FI injection calibration kit services.
Steve Guttride, Head of the Competition Department at Kawasaki Motors Europe has a very positive feeling about these new vintages and is already anticipating a particularly green season: “We have already had very good results with our KX-F riders and the results obtained in AMA prove The capabilities of these machines well. With the improvements to the 2015 models, I am sure that we will score some big points in the next season and that the podiums will wear the color Lime Green very often. “
MAIN CHARACTERISTICS
Liquid-cooled 249 cc 4-stroke single cylinder with dual injector
The presence of two injectors, a world first on a production crossover, plays a key role in the excellent performance of the KX 250 F engine. Its direct injection reinforces its power at high revs. The excellent response of the injection adds to the enthusiasm of this engine designed for high efficiency. Adjustments for 2015 improve low to medium revs, as well as its longevity.
Factory-type preparation
The piston with internal crown in bridge – first appeared on a production cross with the KX 250 F 2010 – is only one of the many elements inspired by the factory bikes..
Progressive throttle linkage
Lightweight, the 43 mm injection body uses two axes linked by a progressive linkage, to sharpen the engine response and provide an excellent feeling of power..
UCE configurable special cross
Also light, the electronic control unit is specially designed to withstand the relentless test of cross country competitions. It contains three engine maps (plus a fourth for Launch Control mode – power control at the start). The optional KX FI calibration kit can be used to reprogram the parameters of the three maps.
Launch Control Start Assist Mode
Borrowed from factory machines, Launch Control mode increases the chances of a good start on slippery terrain, where it optimizes traction.
Choice of direct injection parameters
Thanks to the direct injection couplers supplied as standard, the pilot can quickly and easily choose one or the other of the three maps (normal, difficult or easy conditions) provided for in the new ECU.
Narrow aluminum perimeter frame
The aluminum perimeter frame is a lightweight structure made of forgings, extrusions and castings. Its narrowness optimizes the ergonomics of the machine when racing.
NEW – Adjustable handlebars
Four positions make it possible to adapt the riding position. Renthal handlebars and grips factory type as standard.
NEW – Adjustable footrests
Two positions to choose from make it possible to adapt the ergonomics to the size and tastes of the pilot.
Refined riding position “special circuit”
The narrow frame, minimalist trim and flattened tank-saddle line are designed to promote speed on the track.
NEW – SFF fork (separate functions) Type 2
Released on the 2011 KX 250 F, where it first appeared on a commercial cross-country machine, the SFF (Separated Function Front Fork) puts the damper element in the left tube and the spring in the right. The 48 mm tubes and the factory-style internal structure improve the grip feeling of the nose gear, the quality of the damping and the riding comfort, the resistance to bottoming, and finally the stability under braking and when landing jumps. . On the 2015 version, new valve settings optimize damping for improved handling and stability at high speeds.
“Ready to run” front suspension
A super tough titanium coating (the only one in this category) protects the fork from abrasion wear. Self-lubricating alumite coating creates a hard, low-friction surface on the outer tube, which protects the aluminum surface and further decreases friction to promote suspension progressiveness.
New Uni-Trak rear suspension
The link fixed under the swingarm allows more precise adjustment of the suspension. The dual compression adjustment offers a wide range of possibilities. The self-lubricating alumite coating on the shock reservoir improves the wear resistance and the working of the shock. On the 2015 version, the new settings optimize the damping for improved handling and stability at high speeds.
NEW – Petal disc brakes
The new front and rear petal disc brakes, inspired by the factory machines, offer excellent braking performance and perfect control and underline the premium sporty style of the bike. The oversized front disc of φ270 mm optimizes the holding of the machine.
NEW – “Factory” look
Echoing the factory-style lines and graphics, black alumite1 rims, black fork guards and new green highlights help create a distinctive Kawasaki identity. The green alumite1 finish on the suspension adjusters and the green buttons on the engine reinforce the high-performance image of the KX 250 F.
