Little adventurer from Austria for 6,195 euros

EICMA 2019

In 2020, KTM is also expanding the 390 series to include an adventure version. We have been expecting it for a long time, now KTM is showing the 390 Adventure at the Eicma.

It was obvious that KTM would launch a small adventure bike based on the 390 models. The market is literally crying out for an orange competitor from the BMW G 310 GS or the Kawasaki Versys-X 300 – an A2-compatible touring motorcycle. Much more adult now rolls KTM 390 Adventure on the market and seems to be consciously oriented towards the big sisters of the off-road great power.

The small 390 Adventure is clearly close to its big sisters.

Power from the Duke

The popular 373 cm³ single cylinder of the 390 Duke will also be used unchanged in the Adventure: 44 HP at 9000 revolutions per minute and 37 Newton meters at 7000 push it. The small power package from the street version will also want to score points off-road in the future.

At first glance, it looks sporty.

390 becomes off-road

Of course, the light road hopper has to gain a little more weight – due to the off-road features – and has a dry weight of 158 kilos, while the Duke scores here with a slim 149. If the 14.5 liter tank (plus 1.5 reserve) is full, the 390 Adventure weighs 172 kilos ready to drive. The seat height climbs to 855 mm all-terrain and 200 mm ground clearance must be sufficient for the little adventures.

At the front, the 390 Adventure comes with the 43mm WP-XPLOR fork, adjustable in rebound and compression, and 170 mm travel. At the rear, the WP-XPLOR shock absorber, adjustable in rebound and spring preload, with 177 mm of travel. 19-inch rims are used at the front and 17-inch rims at the rear, with Continental TKC 70 tires. In striking black, the steel frame is complemented by the dark, voluminous cladding and a large underbody protection, while the pointed light mask dominates its appearance at the front.

Data and costs

The KTM 390 Adventure comes as standard with a Bosch 9.1 MP Two Channel ABS that can be switched off and traction control. The base price is specified as 6.195 euros.
